Monsieur counts its milestones

A gentleman’s store for all occasions

- PHEMELO RAMASU

For over a decade, one of the local pioneers of men’s clothing has celebrated many milestones.

The company is none other than Monsieur Collections. For years, the company has been touted as the Gentleman’s store for all occasions. Even more exciting is the fact that the store is inclusive of all generations. In a nutshell, it is a gentleman’s store for all generations. It is this uniqueness that has set it apart from others. If you are one of those who are keeping up with trends, then you will know that for any gentleman that wants to look dapper, one of the good places to get something that will transform them, happens to be Monsieur.

We are told by those who swear by the many cuts and designs that are stocked at the store that you can’t go wrong with a Monsieur collections item. Be it something as simple as a Golf T shirt, shoes and even more elegant like a pair of a suit that will be made especially to fit your body. In the history of the store, the beauty of what drives them is the fact that they do not believe in the expression of one size fits all when it comes to their suits. It is this feature that makes them a cut above the rest.

Interestingly, the store has a humble background. In 2018, they opened their flagship store at Airport Junction. This was a big milestone as the store was upgrading from a small boutique at Masa Square ( CBD).

According to Gorata Keitseope, over the years, the company has grown, and even more incredible is how they have diversified their product offerings and even gained exclusive rights to retail Turkish Brands such as Morven and Kigili. These are some of the developments that keep their loyal customers coming back for more, and extending their growing family of clients.

She shares that they pride themselves for offering premium brands in diversity and range. They also offer in- house resizing services. “We also offer exclusivity. This means that we offer the best in small quantities per range. So our customers do not get Mass Wear,” she said.

She further said that shopping with them is an experience unlike any other. “We have great aesthetics, good customer service with style consultants and a great environment. It is as if you are shopping somewhere in the fashion capitals of the world,“she excitedly said.

In the next decade, she says that they will have their Own Monsieur clothing line which is in the pipeline. They are also looking into tapping into the Franchise model, and are exploring expanding their reach beyond Southern Africa. They had a store in Namibia which was established in 2016 but closed shop due to the Covid- 19 pandemic. “We will definitely have another store in the Northern Part of the Country,“said Keitseope.

Giving an insight about trends, when it comes to Men’s fashion this season, she explains that Batswana can look forward to Chambray, which is a lightweight plain weave fabric, that comes in a few colours. But she says that it’s always woven with a white thread to give it more of a pastel sheen finish. Linen shirts are also coming this season, and these, are ideal for the sizzling hot temperatures of Botswana. Other trends include the Slim T- shirt. “These are well fitting, comfortable lightweight T shirt versatile to accessories, and you can layer it for different casual and semi casual events. The Slim Blazers and suits are still in, they never go out of style,“she pointed out.

Accessories to look forward to include decorated lightweight scarves which are ideal for the daring, Tie & pocket Square which is a gentlemen’s need, as well as a Men Bag.

“A man bag adds sophistication and class to any outfit. You can choose from styles such as Travel Bag, Duffel Bag, Satchel, Canvas bag,” she said.
