What is beauty without that fashionable look? Miss Botswana fashion show, this past weekend, went all out to showcase stunning outfits designed by some of the local fashion designers. The final Miss Botswana contestants swayed in those remarkable designs.

A lot gave a round of applause to the Botswana fashion design industry, as they were impressed with the clothes that the beauty queens fitted in for the fashion show before the final crowning of Miss Botswana. Attendants at Miss Botswana sessions have also mastered a way of dressing up and looking the part. To give the fashion show that royal and glamorous look, expected for any other pageantry fashion show. About six local fashion designers were nominated to dress up the contestants. These designers include Bondphill, Ser Consolado,

Butterfly Couture, Versatile Creations, 9 Six Clothing and Le Queer Casa De Pamela. They all creatively made unique designs under the theme, Avantgarde, which means high fashion.

Thirty beautiful ladies contested and walked the ramp showing who they are, ever since the virtual launch of the pageantry began. This was yet another night to trim the number of these ladies, and select top 16 who will compete for the Miss Botswana 2021 title.

As difficult as it was, top 16 was selected and this year’s queen is expected to be crowned on October 30th, following a careful selection process, rigorous and immaculate judging according to the organisers. As per the theme of this year’s pageant, ‘ Unearthing A New Jewel’, the organisers cannot wait to crown this year’s new jewel. The pageant is expected to be documented with a 13- episodes docu- series which will be aired on Btv.

Public Relations member at Miss Botswana, Pauline Dikuelo tells this publication that voting for the Top 16 will start this week, for the public to help their favourite contestant to win the show. One of the fashion designers showcasing at the event, Chawada July of Butterfly Couture applauded the Miss Botswana team for putting together this event.

She has dressed the Miss Botswana contestants before but it was her first time showcasing her work at this big fashion show. She is excited for the opportunity as she reiterates that this is the biggest fashion show in the country. “I am excited for being part of this, because it is the first time I have showcased my work at Miss Botswana; it is a great milestone for me and I believe that the entire team did well for the show,” says July.

She urges everyone to support this national pageantry in order to help the brand grow, together with the creative industry. “We all need to work as a collective than pointing fingers if we want to elevate this pageant so I urge everyone else to take part and especially bring constructive criticism to help the Miss Botswana brand grow,” she says.
