-

With a mission to continue to bring more local content on DStv, MultiChoice Botswana is excited to announce that popular adult contemporary radio station, GabzFM is joining the DSTV family on channel 844. The news was revealed this week, where the ceremonial switch was conducted. The event was held at the MultiChoice offices in Riverwalk. The day coincided with the International Women’s Day celebration. Even more spectacular is the fact that the Ambassador of Botswana to Australia, Dorcus Makgato was in attendance, and was interviewed by the host of the Iconic drive time show, Dollar Mac. GabzFM is joining Yarona FM and Duma FM which are already available on the audio bouquet.

“GabzFM was established under the tagline, ‘ Power to engage your world’, and over the years, the radio station has been doing a sterling job entertaining the masses with local and international music, riveting features, news, and traffic show stopping discussions on its famous morning shows. “

Speaking on the occasion of the launch, MultiChoice Botswana General Manager, Lorato Mwape highlighted that the company always strives to bring their customers the best in video entertainment throughout its 30 years history in Botswana. She noted that as Africa’s leading story teller, they have continuously looked for opportunities to highlight local content and to play a role in growing the local creative sector.

“The launch of GabzFM is just one of those ways in which we have been able to act on our promise of making DStv more locally relevant to Batswana,” she said.

Mwape further said that over the years, they have gone by the motto # Remoteng because they continue to put local content as a priority.

“We have also recently engaged in Anti Piracy campaign to ensure that Batswana recognise the importance of subscribing locally which creates more opportunities to grow the local creative industry. And we trust that with the addition of GabzFM we will only see more local radio and more television content making its way into our screens,” said Mwape.

GabzFM Station Manager, Lesego Komanyane hailed this development. The addition, Komanyane said, will boost the radio station and give them a wider reach with hundreds of thousands of households listening in from the comfort of their homes. “DSTV’s footprint covers the entire country and it gives us great joy to be able to have GabzFM that much closer to Batswana,” said Komanyane.
