The Innovative Nollie Ngwira of The Avo Tree Good Food & Catering will this coming June bring people together around a table, and share with them her passion for food. The event, penciled for June 25th is not just an ordinary event. It will give Ngwira a chance to host and share with those who love food, not just any food but colourful food with a chance to dine, laugh, create memories and learn all that they need to know about her love for plant based diets.

What makes the event even more special, is how she is hosting the event at a farm that produces food, meaning that most of the items used in the dishes will be coming fresh from the farm and straight to the table.

Ngwira is all about being intentional, and with this upcoming event, she wants something that will leave an impact in her guests. She wants the guests to have a good time, and package the memories from the event in a jar, that they can open and smile when they think about the beautiful time that they had.

Speaking in an interview with Style, she explains that she had been planning the Avo dinners for a long time, but never got around to doing them. She is curating a memorable experience for those who want something that is different to just an ordinary dinner. The evening will be filled with scrumptious dishes, entertainment, wine, coffee and tea. She is bringing in a wine connoisseur to impart knowledge about wines. And wants her guests to walk away with great memories and knowledge about what plant based meals entail.

“It will be for people who want to taste and enjoy my meals, and meet and network with like- minded people,” she says, adding that the event is about experiences.

It will be a safe space for everyone, she says. And her guests will eat wholesome meals and just have fun.

“I want them to take something from the event, and I want them to come back to our events,” she explains.

Meanwhile, she explains that when she started her company, she wanted to create a community that loves colourful nutritious food, and it was never about making a quick buck. She recalls that as she attempted to fit in, she listened to the many voices that were telling her to do this and that. She has learnt her lesson, and has learnt to listen to her own voice.

Ngwira explains that she had a Food truck in 2018, and despite the fact that it was clearly written outside what she was serving, people still asked her why she was not cooking your rice and other food that many are used to. She finally succumbed to pressure, and took that route. But it came with a heavy burden to her as she was miserable. “I was running my company, and listening to what people were saying, which was a big mistake on my part. And it is a mistake that as entrepreneurs we sometimes make,” she says.

Besides the Avo Dinners, she is also busy working on her Recipe book, which will give many a chance to learn and create their own plant based meals in the comfort of their homes.

Going back to her early days in her career in the Food industry, she explains that one thing that she has learnt in her journey is to never listen to people, and do what sets her heart alight. She is not big on Mass catering, and can only go back to doing it on a subscription basis at a small scale.
