- POTLAKO BOGATSU BG CORRESPONDENT

Artists in six different categories from all corners of Botswana who were the finalists at the FNBB Bodiragatsi Jwame- Lentswe Lame competition gathered at the FNBB Open Space West Entrance in the heart of corporate Gaborone for a grand finale. FNBB Retail, in collaboration with FNB Foundation established the talent show as a way of giving back to the community of artists which has been hit hard by the pandemic.

The theme, Futuristic Botswana, permeated through the various artistic performances and artworks that were on display. Dance, poetry, music, fashion, photography & videography and visual art were the different categories that kept art lovers entertained by the artist’s unique ways of incorporating the theme into their different pieces.

Some notable creative people to grace the competition were Prince Tom, the visual artist who made the attendees of the talent show swarm his display centre when he started to body paint a person live at the event. People were notably mesmerized by the way he nonchalantly stroked his paintbrush and made a beautiful art piece.

The group Rinyeleri ja Meraba had artistic body paint which was in line with the group’s poetic and acrobatic dance style. The groups acrobatic abilities kept the audience at the edge of their seats. They performed their piece to the tune of some poetry and African music. The talent show finale was a buffet of talent which echoed to the heart of

Gaborone of Batswana’s innate artistic abilities.

“It is truly an honour to have been given such an opportunity and I am sure that most of us the creative people needed it. I seek other corporates and foundations to do the same and help us do more with our crafts.” First runner up in the Poetry category, poetess Lame Pusetso explained that the good relationship between the corporate world and the creative industry gives artists the hope that they are on the right path. The confetti that strung to the dusking city sky cemented the winners in the different categories who walked away with P15 000, P10 000 and P7 500 respectively in all categories. FNBB reiterated its commitment to helping various communities grow and it has committed to having such platforms in the future.
