Ko Seronga hitmaker relishes success

- IRENE SHONE BG CORRESPONDENT

Thato Kavinja aka Koolkat Motyiko’s line of music boasts of promoting his mother land, the Okavango region. The ‘ Ko Seronga’ hit maker says that he never looked back since April 2021 after the release of the most loved ‘ Ko Seronga’ song. The song actually promoted the Seronga village in the wetlands of Botswana, explaining the beautiful lifestyle lived there. Koolkat Motyiko ended the year in style as he compiled a four- track EP tittled, Sedimo. It features the single solo track ‘ Sedimo’ itself, which was produced by Volcano, RU YIMBO ft RITA Christopher & Sedimo Tour ft RITA Christopher. “The other two tracks were produced by MBUKU DRUMS from shakawe and the last track on the EP, features my elder brother, Mr Pantsola Kid & RITA Christopher, which was produced by Dj Famous from Maun,” he tells BG Style. “The EP is available on youtube and North West local website where one can find all our latest projects at www. bishopbw. com,” he adds.

His other new song: ‘ Khongoro ( koo koo)’ also similarly stole the lime light upon its release late last year, alongside the wedding song dubbed, ‘ Ngwetsi’. Ngwetsi actually receives a lot of airplay on radio as people keep requesting to listen to it. The talented artiste agrees that his hit song ‘ Ko Seronga’ was enough to expose him to the music scenery and he is glad for that and targets releasing more of interactive music. “What keeps me going as an artist is my love for what I do. We do it because we have been hungry for this piece of cake. We have a dream to see Okavango Music and Botswana Music exported with our indeginous language,” he shares.

He has also already released a 9- track Album tittled Seronga 1, early last year. The album features renowned artistes, including: HT Tautona, Stinger Sola, MOTLHA, M. O. D and Myeyes. It was produced by JAZZMAN of Taboka Croft Studios. He had the busiest festive season as he performed in Nata at Mashaka farms on December 23rd, alongside Magebula, and 24th in Seronga for the home coming concert. For the new year’s eve, he was in Shakawe.

He also tells Vibe that he will soon be dropping an international collaboration soon, to start off the year. They have already dropped visuals for their track song, Sedimo, featuring Rita Christopher and produced by Mbuku Drums as well as their latest song Khongoro. Koolkat promises to continue releasing music good to the ears this year, and says he is about informing people through music. “I’m happy that a lot of people who did not know about Seronga village, got to know the place and its lovely scenery and activities taking place there through my song,” said Koolkat.
