JOB TITLE: SENIOR ACCOUNTS OFFICER ( BPOMAS)

The Botswana Public O cers’ Medical Aid Scheme is the country’s largest Medical Aid Scheme which provides its members with comprehens­ive medical aid cover and complement­ary value adding bene ts. BPOMAS is looking to ll the following positions.

Location:

PURPOSE OF JOB:

To organise and carry out daily processing of accounting records and informatio­n to ensure accurate and timely production of accounts in accordance with laid down procedures and schedules, accounting policies and standards and customer expectatio­ns. The role covers both BPOMAS and its subsidiary, BPOMAS Property Holdings ( BPH).

Key Responsibi­lities:

Accounting

Ensure that all day- to- day nancial accounting controls, records and activities are up to date.

Analyse range of accounts; reconcile nancial ledgers and records, general ledgers, investigat­e and resolve discrepanc­ies.

Prepare bank reconcilia­tions and related journal entries for a variety of accounts Maintain and track xed asset inventory control records.

Process and resolve unmatched reports and prepare necessary journal entries to balance and reconcile respective accounts.

Preparatio­n, processing and reconcilia­tion of supplier payments. Preparatio­n and processing of creditors informatio­n, and ensure timeous and accurate creditor payments.

Preparatio­n and processing of payroll; monitor payroll costs and prepare analysis of costs as required.

Preparatio­n and processing of VAT, PAYE and other tax returns, and further ensure all Tax liabilitie­s are paid throughout the Tax year and proper returns led with Tax authoritie­s.

Operationa­l

Provide assistance in developmen­t of the annual budget; assist in the review and validation of annual budgets.

Assist in the preparatio­n of monthly and periodic nancial analysis and reports of expenditur­e and revenue against budget.

Attend to customer ( both internal and external) queries within service level agreement.

Compilatio­n and submission­s of annual returns.

Handle o ce administra­tion and all logistical requiremen­ts including supervisio­n of the front desk.

Risk

Identify, assess and evaluate potential nancial risks, manage and monitor department­al risks.

Ensure that a risk awareness culture is inculcated in the working environmen­t within Finance Department.

BPOMAS

Audit and Governance

Prepare audit schedules in order to ensure preparedne­ss and timely execution of the audit process.

Conduct quality assurance, check accuracy of the account codes relating to nancial documentat­ion and resolve coding queries; recommend establishm­ent of additional codes to facilitate accurate processing and recording of nancial informatio­n and the generation of appropriat­e reports.

Reporting

Prepare monthly and periodic analysis reports of expenditur­e and revenue against budget and establishe­s reasons for variances; alerts on signi cant changes, deviations and other variances from forecasts and budgets.

Q uali cations:

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or equivalent

ACCA/ CIMA Part Quali ed. Quali ed ACCA/ CIMA added advantage 3- 5 years work experience in Accounting or related eld

Experience:
