Space for healing and self- discovery

- BG CORRESPONDENT

Vula Healing Space held its first holistic event aimed at bringing together attendees for a day of self- discovery, spiritual knowledge and soothing sounds. The event took place in Tlokweng at naturecentric ‘ The Wild Tree’. The event has pioneered a new space in Gaborone, making holistic living more accessible and supporting local healers and organic producers.

This space features a diverse range of rejuvenating practices such as meditation sessions, sound healing, talks on spiritual wellness and plant medicine. Attendees have the opportunity to engage with like- minded individuals and learn about the various ways to develop themselves mentally, emotionally and spiritually.

“We’re thrilled to be hosting this event and to bring together such a passionate and diverse community,” said co- founder Thato Chuma- Mogotsi. “There are a lot of stressful things that affect us daily. We then carry that inner tension without finding ways to resolve it, which causes issues and even diseases. We believe that an event of this kind helps people unwind in a beneficial way. We see that the activities can benefit everyone, and we want to provide a space for people to learn, grow, and connect.

Some of the live performances included a music set by fusion duo Taola, a drumming session by renowned percussionist Dingalo Mpolaise and two conscious sets by DJ Bigga and Sound Architect, Manfred Mash. The meditation session was led by Dr Ava Avalos while the sound bathing was facilitated by Arroyo Organics. Local brands such as Nubian Seed. Food Girl BW and Mystikal Crystals Botswana also featured with their sustainably sourced products. Healer and Sangoma, Gogo Tirelo offered spiritual guidance and herbal medicines. “We can’t wait to curate more of these sessions and to see the positive impact it can have on our community,” noted Chuma- Mogotsi. “Spirituality and our culture

are an important aspect of our lives because they ground us. We hope to inspire people to take charge of their wellness and to explore the many benefits of holistic practices.”

Vula Healing Space is a unique platform dedicated to the healing of the mind, body and spirit through sound and vibration. The goal is to create a safe and nurturing environment where event guests can connect with their inner selves and find peace and balance amidst the chaos of everyday life.

The space is a collaborative effort which includes people with different gifts to contribute towards the space for the purpose of healing the community. Partners include musicians, artists, holistic coaches, sound healing facilitators, herbalists, energy healers, movement teachers and entrepreneurs within the holistic living space.
