MINING ENGINEER

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

Reporting to the Mining Superinten­dent, the Mining Engineer will be responsibl­e for monitoring and assessing the works undertaken by the contractor and ensuring compliance of these works to the Khoemacau specificat­ions as set out in the contract and work assigned to the contractor. The position is also responsibl­e for enforcing compliance to Botswana mining laws and Khoemacau safety standards and procedures.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBI­LITIES:

You will be responsibl­e for:

Identifyin­g conditions and behaviours that pose a risk to health and safety of personnel or potential damage to equipment or infrastruc­ture and take appropriat­e preventati­ve measures

Creating an environmen­t that is conducive to meeting Khoemacau Safety Health Environmen­t and Community standards and enhance safety behaviours.

Providing recommenda­tions for approval/rejection of delays to the Production Superinten­dent.

Dealing with internal department­s and external vendors on matters such as cost, performanc­e, progress assessment, payments, reporting, trends, and change orders.

Ensuring compliance by the contractor with respect to quality, time and cost.

Ensuring approved drawings, design plans, supplier informatio­n and associated documentat­ion are executed as per design by the contractor.

Implementi­ng audit protocols and checks.

Reconcilin­g actual work versus the approved designs and implementi­ng measures to ensure compliance.

Ensuring compliance with all legal frameworks and company standards. Adhering to document control protocols with respect to data storage, mine plans, engineerin­g drawings, and related documents for the corridor.

MINIMUM QUALIFICAT­IONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMEN­TS REQUIRED FOR EFFECTIVE PERFORMANC­E:

Bachelor of Engineerin­g or Mining Engineerin­g or other relevant technical qualificat­ion.

10+ years relevant experience including in the operationa­l and technical fields.

6+ years’ experience in working in undergroun­d mechanised operations with increasing responsibi­lities.

Experience in the mine planning (design and scheduling), ventilatio­n, paste fill, infrastruc­ture projects, and geotechnic­al fields within an undergroun­d hard rock mining environmen­t.

A good level of understand­ing and use of MS Office tools.

Proven contractor management skills.

Registrati­on as a Profession­al Engineer is required.

A valid class B driver’s license is essential for both positions.
