Sebina’s music makes a return on Blood & Water
After her song Loves light was featured on the first season of South African Netflix series
Blood & Water, local songstress, Mpho Sebina has once again made it to the second season.
Sebina’s song Dumelang features in the teenage series’ episode 4 titled ‘Siyoyo’ where Fikile Bhele (Khosi Ngema) arrives home to find her grandmother just before they prepare for her traditional ceremony that seals her bond with ancestors.
Dumelang is a song that was also nominated for best female single at the recent Yarona FM music awards (YAMAs) 2021. The song was produced by Amo Beatz. In a previous interview with Arts & Culture, Sebina revealed that Africa Creative Agency reached out to her regarding using her music for the Netflix series.
The singer further revealed that having her song Loves light featured in Netflix’s series was pretty exciting for her. “The reach that Netflix has is good for my music”. Award-winning South African director Nosipho Dumisa leads a talented cast of teens in this tense mystery-drama series.
Besides her music featuring in TV series, the vocalist behind Major League DJz’ Dinaledi hit has also been announced as one of the performers at the main ceremony of the inaugural South African (SA) Amapiano Awards Show on October 23, 2021. Major League DJz’ hit Dinaledi which Sebina was featured in has managed to get three nominations at these awards being Best Amapiano Produced Song, Amapiano Song of the Year and Best Amapiano Music Video. The awards will highlight notable achievers within this fashionable genre and if Dinaledi goes on to win, Sebina would be proud to have been part of the big act.
