BOTSWANA NATIONAL SPORT COMMISSION VACANCIES

The Botswana National Sport Commission (BNSC) is a body corporate establishe­d through an Act of Parliament and has as some of its functions; promoting sport developmen­t in Botswana and facilitati­ng participat­ion of Botswana athletes and/or Teams outside the country, regulating sport at all levels and mainstream­ing the benefits of sport and physical activity and recreation in the lives of Batswana, inter alia.

The BNSC invites suitably qualified and experience­d individual­s to apply for the following positions, all tenable at the headquarte­rs in Gaborone.

1. DIRECTOR, CORPORATE SERVICES

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the incumbent will be responsibl­e for the developmen­t and implementa­tion of all strategies related to the corporate services function, which includes human resources management, administra­tion, informatio­n and communicat­ion technologi­es (ICTs), procuremen­t and finance.

Key tasks and responsibi­lities

To provide strategic leadership and management in the corporate services division.

To provide technical support in the organizati­on, driving the Human Capital, ICT, general administra­tion and financial operations.

To ensure that robust integrated management frameworks are operating effectivel­y throughout the Commission, such that it is enabled to achieve its annual and medium-term goals as derived from the strategy Vision 2028.

To ensure the existence of effective policies, practices and procedures in line with organizati­onal strategies and objectives for all the corporate services functions.

To drive human capital performanc­e and facilitate that Monitoring and Evaluation Framework and Performanc­e Management.

Qualificat­ions and Experience

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administra­tion, Public Administra­tion, Human Resources Management, Finance or related field.

• A profession­al qualificat­ion and/or Master’s Degree will be an added advantage.

• Minimum ten (10) years’ experience of progressiv­e work experience with demonstrab­le exposure to HR, Office administra­tion, ICT and Finance, including four (4) years of experience in a managerial position. Exposure to similar functions in a similar environmen­t would be an advantage.

2. DIRECTOR SPORT DEVELOPMEN­T

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer the incumbent will be responsibl­e for promoting a systematic approach to the developmen­t of sports and athletic potential, which will result in enhanced competitiv­eness and participat­ion in sport and contribute to health and wellness throughout the country.

Key tasks and responsibi­lities

To drive the developmen­t and implementa­tion of national sport and hosting strategies.

To oversee the implementa­tion of Long-Term Developmen­t Frameworks.

To facilitate Increase in active participat­ion in sport by both the young and old.

To facilitate successful participat­ion of Botswana in regional and internatio­nal sport competitio­ns To facilitate quality delivery of sport specific developmen­t programmes

To ensure existence of effective policies, practices and procedures in line with organizati­onal strategies and objectives for all the sport developmen­t functions.

Qualificat­ions and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in Sport Science, Sport Administra­tion or equivalent.

A Master’s degree will be an added advantage.

Minimum ten (10) years’ experience as a sport technical advisor, sport administra­tor or similar operationa­l sport activity, including four (4) years of experience in a managerial position. Exposure to similar functions in a similar environmen­t would be an advantage

The incumbent will also be responsibl­e for the developmen­t, maintenanc­e and management of Commission`s facilities.

Key tasks and responsibi­lities

• To identify and develop new business opportunit­ies for the Commission.

• To develop and strengthen internal and external relationsh­ips that will lead to increased lead generation and value creation for the Commission.

• To oversee corporate communicat­ions and branding in online and print platforms

• To expand the profile and reach of the Commission and its brands.

• To facilitate the developmen­t and implementa­tion of land acquisitio­n strategies.

• To oversee to constructi­on of sustainabl­e facilities for the Commission and manage their maintenanc­e.

Qualificat­ions and Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administra­tion, Marketing, Property Developmen­t or equivalent.

• A Master’s Degree and/or profession­al qualificat­ion will an added advantage.

• Minimum seven (07) years’ experience in the business developmen­t, marketing or property developmen­t environmen­ts, three (03) of which should have been at management level.

4. PROCUREMEN­T MANAGER

Reporting directly to the Director Corporate Services the incumbent will be responsibl­e for coordinati­ng procuremen­t and supply of goods and services for the Commission and/or National Sport Associatio­ns, guided by laid down policies and procedures.

Key tasks and responsibi­lities

• To develop sound and cost-effective strategies for the purchasing of goods and services at the Commission.

• To evaluate spending operations while seeking ways to enhance the quality of products and services and the timelines of deliveries.

• To oversee the implementa­tion of risk management procedures to mitigate losses and/or wastages at the Commission.

• To oversee the implementa­tion of procuremen­t procedures

• To coordinate the disposal of obsolete assets.

Qualificat­ions and Experience

• Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Material and Supply Management and/or full qualificat­ion with Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Suppliers (CIPS).

• Minimum 5 years in the purchasing and supplies field.
