Miss Supranatio­nal Botswana prizes yet due

After catching headlines and hogging public attention with its winners’ prizes on its debut, the Miss Supranatio­nal beauty pageant is yet to award the queen and her princesses a month later.

When the organisers of the pageantry announced their prizes for this year’s competitio­n, it got the public talking and others wishing to have been part of the pageant to contest for the numerous life changing prizes. The organisers had announced that the winners would walk away with massive prices worth close to half a million pula. This includes a brand new Haval Jolion car on a motor plan and insurance for the queen. Her princesses also walked away with prizes that included courses of their choice. To most people, these prizes were too good to be true.

On top of the brand new car, the queen will be accommodat­ed in a fully furnished house, given monthly groceries, medical aid, spa treatment, hair sponsorshi­p, a wardrobe sponsorshi­p of P50,000, make-up artist on call, a personal trainer, a stylist and a public relations practition­er.

Even though it has been a month since the crowning, the winners are yet to receive all their prizes.

In an interview with Arts & Culture, Something Big spokespers­on Kaone Moremong said the set date for the prize giving according to their schedule, which all their contestant­s and associates were aware of, has not elapsed. “As you can imagine our prizes are not just ordinary movable items. After crowning, we do consultati­ons with our winners on the scholarshi­ps and courses, consult with their preferred varsities, go to our dealership­s choose colours and specs, then place orders. Then issue funds release from our trust fund,” Moremong said.

“Yes we do have deadlines, and everything will be announced in due time, with full informatio­n and a prize giving ceremony will be held in the presence of both the media, partners, sponsors, winners’ families and friends. It should, however, be noted that some of the prizes (that have not yet been revealed) although will be acknowledg­ed at prize giving, the Queens are already enjoying,” Moremong said.

She, however, added that they were also busy with preparatio­ns for sending their queen to represent Botswana in Poland. She said the queen would depart on June 22. The competitio­n commences on July 14, 2023. Moremong also said they were also busy with the three winners’ projects, creating partnershi­ps for them to support their projects. S h e also pointed out that as Something Big, they do not believe in compromisi­ng their standards and therefore intentiona­lly choose to deliver once plans were finalised to proper profession­al standards they set for themselves.
