Family Feud Botswana to be shot in SA

- LARONA MAKHAIZA Correspondent

American TV host, Steve Harvey has made a revelation that Botswana will finally have Family Feud show of its own. But he highlighted that the show will not be shot locally as the country is not equipped for an activity of such great magnitude.

At the launch of the Mass Media Studio 4 this week, Steve Harvey stated that Botswana’s Family Feud show season will be shot in the neighbouring South Africa. “We are to have Family Feud Botswana as part of this deal and it will be the first thing we do but it is going to be shot in Johannesburg, South Africa,” revealed Steve Harvey. The multi award winning TV host also said the main reasons for the decision is because Studio 4 that was launched does not even match the standards of producing such a show. “It will be shot in Johannesburg because we do not have the facility yet. We need to like have a 40 feet ceiling and have a studio that is like over 30 feet wider to accommodate everything,” he said.

On how the Family Feud will be a Botswana show but shot in SA, Steve Harvey said the show would encapsulate families from Botswana. “We are going to take families from Botswana to SA with us so that we get to shoot with them. The show will only be made of families from Botswana,” Steve Harvey expressed. He stated that each family would have to pick a total five members who are willing to be on TV.

Steve Harvey revealed that for Family Feud Botswana, only one season is going to be shot.

Meanwhile, he highlighted that people should not despair that Botswana is getting

Botswana will get to host one of the gigantic shows ever of Family Feud. He highlighted that the show will even be held for the first time here in Botswana. “We will do a Family Feud Africa where we will have nations across Africa fly to Botswana to take part in the show. This will be for the first time as the show will be national where nations will face each other instead of families facing each other,” he revealed.

For this to be possible, Steve Harvey explained that while they will be shooting the Family Feud Botswana in SA, back in Botswana they will be building an Aircraft hangar. “We are going to build Aircraft hangar, which is how we do a lot of shows in Los Angels but first we have to find the land for it. This is where we will host the first ever Family Feud Africa,” Steve Harvey said.

For his part, President Mokgweetsi Masisi revealed that the deal would also conceptualise the training of wildlife film producers. “We will also have more creatives produce wildlife documentaries because after diamonds, the next big revenue in Botswana is tourism. Most of our tourism is wildlifebased and we have 40% of our land for conservation. So why would it not make sense not to invest in documentaries and share our wildlife with the world,” he said.

Advising the creatives in Botswana, Masisi implored them to stay sharp, listen, always be at the forefront and compete to thrive in their journey.
