BOSETU reap from subsidiaries’ dividends
Botswana Sectors of Educators Trade Union (BOSETU) is reaping from its subsidiary entities in the pursuit to widespread the services and products across the country.
BOSETU on Monday (April 22, 2024) received over 10 vehicles from two of its subsidiary entities, PEUBO Investments (PTY)LTD and BOFUS Insurance Brokers (BiB). Speaking at the handover ceremony held in the BOSETU headquarters in Gaborone, BOSETU commercial wing general manager, Sydney Mogapi was delighted as the trade union is reaping the reward of its investments on subsidiary entities.
Mogapi said the newly acquired vehicles would allow BOSETU to reach and penetrate the lengths and wide of the country. He further they would to business as there would visibility for both PEUBO Investments and BiB. Mogapi said this will enable the members know the services provided at every corner of Botswana as the footprint of the trade union would to be greatly enhanced by the resources we put in the institutions.
“These two entities are at different stages of growth.
BiB aims to maintain and diversify revenues for its entity and PEUBO is an aggressive growth and expansion strategy. These are resources that allow us reach and penetration. We cannot reach where they are if we do not have the mobility to do so.
We cannot penetrate to our mem- bers with the right products if we do not have the mobility to do so,” Mogapi told the gathering.
For his part, BOSETU executive director, Ned Phatshwane said the occasions showcased the commitment, the teamwork and forethought in achieving its goals. He said BOSETU journey started a long time ago in 1986 and by then the main focus was skewed toward the general mandate of a union of this nurture.
Phatshwane the hand over of vehicles was propelled by the need of current leadership to seek nothing else but excellence in a clear shift of operation of business of the trade union. In this regard, he said the expectation that came with the emphasis on the tangible financial results and positive returns on investments.
“What you are going to see are the returns that the union will now be enjoying going forward, either in form or in another form, from its investments. This is the genesis of the change in the methology of BOSETU in terms of service provision. This shows that in BOSETU, the best competition is not what other union are doing but rather the state we were in yesterday because that is what trying our level best to do,” Phatshwane said.
The donated cars include, Toyota GD6 models, Isuzu vans and panel vans. PEUBO has donated four vehicles while BiB has handed over six, and there is has been addition of four vehicles bring it to a total of 14 vehicles.
