Gopolang is prepared to endure all the battering and verbal taunts for as long as she can have her charming monster boyfriend

- BY SUN REPORTER

Apart from repeated physical and verbal abuse as well as getting vulgarities hurled at her, Gopolang Godisang (37) says her boyfriend is a good man and she would not want to see him go to jail.

Recently Godisang and her boyfriend, Martin Moyo (28) appeared before Kgosi Keabetswe Dihutso at Mogoditshane Customary Court after she reported him for assaulting her, one of her children and maliciously breaking her property.

According to Godisang, on August 11, she called Moyo to inform him that their five-year-old child was sick and he had to come home so they can take the child to the clinic. A few hours later, a drunk Moyo arrived at her house angry and hurling insults at her in front of her other children.

When Godisang’s eldest son, a 19-year-old Botho College student, tried to calm Moyo down he (Moyo) assaulted him. Then he hit Godisang, even twisting her arms before moving on to breaking all the windows in her house.

However, the unemployed mother of four told Kgosi Dihutso that she and Moyo loved each other a lot and they were still together. All she really wanted was for Moyo to pay for the windows he broke.

In an interview after the court case, Godisang told this publication that Moyo, with whom she has been in a romantic relationship for the past five years, was a good man who just has a “little” problem with alcohol.

“Yes, maybe when he has had alcohol he slaps me around and can be verbally abusive sometimes but he loves me and has accepted my other three children as his without complaining. He is smart, and works really hard for us,” she said.

She added that when he is sober, he is the “most charming person you would ever hope to come across.” Meanwhile Moyo, who pleaded guilty to all the charges was sentenced to six lashes and P500 which he should pay within 15 days.
