PPADB, ERB collaborate on engineering information
Shoddy works on most public infrastructure continues to be put on the spotlight, as authorities seek a permanent solution to the challenge.
The Public Procurement and Asset Board (PPADB) and Engineers Registration Board (ERB) last week signed a deal to strengthen cooperation in information sharing and engineering professional regulation.ERB Registrar, Dennis Olaotse said the relationship will enable the entities to effectively discharge their duties. “We have been unable to get information on the tender requirements and winning bidder’s key engineering personal proposal from procuring entities prior to site visitation for easy identification of the engineering professionals proposed,” said Olaotse.
He added that the new relationship will also provide a platform for dialogue and information exchange, especial information on projects awarded and engineering professionals’ database. Executive Chairperson of PPADB, Elijah Motshedi is optimistic that the collaboration will lead to seamless flow of information between ERB and PPADB. “I believe this will go a long way in improving the quality and delivery of engineering projects,” said Motshedi. He said establishing a relationship with ERB, is part of efforts by PPADB to professionalise its procurement function.
“This is the sixth MoU that PPADB has signed with sister organisations and the results of such collaborations are already bearing fruit,” said Motshedi, adding that the collaborations help reduce tender related complaints and lead to timely project and service delivery.
