Sun: What sport code are you involved in?
Shibobo: My current sporting code is cycling which involves two disciplines namely, mountain bike and road cycling.
Sun: What attracted you to this sport?
Shibobo : Initially, I joined the sport in order for me to lose weight and then it turned into passion, as I was extremely motivated to lose weight and compete for podium positions.
Sun: Which team or club do you play for?
Shibobo: I am currently a junior cyclist in the Tesla riders cycling club.
Sun: How has the sport changed your life?
Shibobo:
It has changed my life
tremendously as now I live a healthy lifestyle and understand my body more because it is the key to my success.
Sun: What are your major achievements?
Shibobo: I recently competed in the discovery 94.7 in Joburg and I beat my personal best by far which showed that all my hard work paid off.
Sun: When did you start your sport?
Shibobo: I started cycling in 2014 so I’ve been in the game for 5 years now.
Sun: If you were to change anything about your sport code what would it be?
Shibobo : One thing I would certainly like to change is finding funds so that we are able to compete internationally as we will gain more experience from doing that.
Sun; What advice can you give to youth who want to do your sport? Shibobo: They need to know that some days will be bad but that shouldn’t bring them down, rather they need to comeback s t ronger and even more committed.
Sun: Where do you see yourself in the next five years?
Shibobo: I see myself in university doing the course that will later help me get the job I want and much wiser and more committed to the sport.
Sun: What is the secret to your success? Shibobo:
Consistency is key because without consistency you will not get the results you want.
Sun: What has been your saddest moment in your sport journey? Shibobo: I would say not winning the Botswana individual time trial because I thought I had worked hard enough to secure the top spot on the podium.
Sun: Which famous athlete do you look up to in your sport? Shibobo: I look up to Peter Sagan, he has won the world cycling champion three consecutive times and is dedicated, regardless of him no longer being in his prime.
Hobbies: Reading novels and reading about sport related articles.
Greatest fear: My greatest fear is not being able to work hard enough to where I want to be.
