Ghavorr returns to music with banging single, Naledi

- BY KABELO GADISE

Following many years of absence in the local music scenes Ishmael Otlaadisa known by stage name Ghavorr has released a smashing single titled Naledi, which was released on Monday this week, which was also his 40th birthday.

The song was produced by Suffocate of Roc Lefatshe Records and it features equally talented artist Ivon and Jinger Stone.

The song is dedicated to his daughter (Hlabo Otlaadisa) who passed away on the 22nd of January 2020, when she was just a day old. He said the loss hit them hard because she was the only daughter they had. “We were looking forward to my wife having a mini version of herself running around, as we are already blessed with two sons. The unexpected loss took my family into a dark corner of emotions. It was not easy to cope but we handed the pain to Christ,” he said.

Ghavorr who also doubles as a Pastor at Christ International in his home town Lobatse, said those who have lost their loved ones, should hand the pain to Christ and he shall bring them tears of Joy. “The song is also a dedication to the ones we lost, so it appeals to many people as we have all dealt with loss at some point in our lives,” he said. Interestingly, his sound has not changed but has evolved since he is working with a new producer. “That does not mean you will never get that trademark Ghavorr sound. One thing I need to emphasize is that the lyrics are more mature and responsible as I need to be more careful with what I say in my musical,” he said.

Ghavorr has been involved with many other businesses outside music in recent years, “I have been busy establishing my company in the film industry. My company, The Corporate Lead is now at a level where it can confidently compete with other film companies in the country. We have two shows currently airing on Now DSTV channel 290, being Through the Valley(A gospel show) and Hit Box(Entertainment Show).”

Ghovorr released his one and only debut album back in 2007, when he was only 27-year-old. His last appearance in the music scene was at a Bot50 celebration party where he announced that he was quitting music.
