Lindiwe drops Tlopela to celebrate positive love in light of GBV

- BY IRENE SHONE

Singer Lindiwe has released a song titled ‘Tlopela’ to encourage couples to consider loving each other more, instead of hurting one another.

Tlopela, literally translates to add more. Lindiwe told Vibe that through the song she urges people to rather uplift love than hatred in their lives.

She notes with sadness that she has been observing terrifying situations that happen under the name of love, particularly with the increase in incidences of Gender Based Violence.

“So I thought to myself, how would it look like if people could rather use the energy that they use to disappoint and ridicule each other to love and build a harmonious society, and so I wrote the song,” she said. She explained that the song also directly speaks to her because it was also inspired by the fact that she would only love to experience such a beautiful love relationship, than any traumatising incident under the guise of love.

The song, which was recorded at Nice Cut productions, is already getting a lot of airplay on several local radio stations.

Lindiwe said she was humbled by the positive feedback that she has received so far, particularly as many people appreciate the message behind it too. Her festive message to people out there is: “Love is beautiful, and if it hurts then it is not meant to be, and so people should learn to walk away. Let’s also not forget to teach our children to speak out, because it is one of the ways we could win over GBV,” she said.
