Banc ABC Botswana Managing Director, Kgotso Bannalotlhe was this week content that the bank has managed to reach key milestones in the past ten years amid the highly competitive banking sector. Speaking to the media on Tuesday, he said the bank, which was initially a merchant bank before switching to a full commercial bank, is now among the top five in the country and is gunning for even better position.“This is a big achievement,” he told the press adding that, the lender also managed to list during the past ten years. This has further given local investors a chance to own part of the bank.
The commercial bank, currently services over 60 0000 customers with several branches and service centres around the country. “To come from nothing to this, is really a big achievement,” said a thrilled Bannalotlhe who has also worked for several commercial banks before being snapped up to head the lender. Banc ABC Botswana, which is part of African Banking Corporation (ABC), has in the past few years consolidated its operations by among others, hiring and retaining key talent, improving customer services as well as technological advancement. The bank used proceeds from its listing on the Botswana Stock Exchange to procure a highly sought after core banking platform. The new banking system has enabled BancABC to be in a position to offer superior service within reasonable times. In the past two years, the bank has built a network of four service centres which were a first for the market. The bank has not folded its arms amid the Covid -19 scourge which has affected retail and business customers at large. It offered relief packages which were meant to help customers with flexible payments plans. More lately, the bank has also introduced various innovations for customers such as SARU Money (retail customers), banconline (business), secure online transactions among others. The bank has also partnered with mobile money service companies. Bannalotlhe has promised that, going into the future, the bank will work more with SMES, drive digital and payment platforms solutions, among others.
