Orange FA Cup resumes

- KABELO GADISE

If things go according to plan, the Orange FA Cup Quarter Finals will be played in the next coming days. The tournament is billed to conclude this month before the league can begin in February.

First Division side, Calendar Stars will take on Premier League debutants, Masitaoka FC in what is expected to be a competitive game of evenly matched sides. Despite Masitaoka’s dominance in the division last season, Calendar Stars can also score an upset.

Masitaoka have been a busy side in the transfer market, preparing for elite football next season while Calendar Stars have also beefed up their squad as they will have another chance to aim their slingshot at a Premier League spot.

Meanwhile the most highly anticipated fixture will be between Jwaneng Galaxy FC and a rejuvenated Notwane FC. Notwane have already found their form under coach Oupa Kowa. With their neat passing and great combinations in attack, they will be looking to cause an upset against a match fit Jwaneng Galaxy, who have been playing in the Champions League.

Police XI faces Gaborone United in another quarter final game. The Jungle Kings will go all out against a Gaborone United side that has been busy in the transfer market revamping their squad. On paper, the Old Naledi based club looks like favorites to win this cup.

While Police can prove to be a difficult opponent any day, Gaborone United’s hunger for silverware has been growing season after season and the zeal to feed their cravings also continues in the same speed.

On the other hand, Township Rollers takes on Mahalapye Railway Highlanders as both teams seek to make it to the semifinals of the renowned Orange FA Cup. The two sides ended the league on a good form and if they were to continue where they left off, there would be a spectacular game.

Popa will end the season without silverware, something which is very unusual for the prolific MmaMasire based side. This means Popa will be expected to come in with guns blazing in the tournament to earn themselves a trophy for the 2019/2020 season with coach Nikola Kavazovic.

All the games are expected to kick start towards at the end of January with the semifinals and final billed for February. The tournament organizers are yet to communicate the dates and the venue for all the matches.
