TSHEKO DENIES BFL LINK
Transformation has been the new watch word in local elite football lately and with supporters are waiting with bated breath for the league return, there seems to be a lot happening behind closed doors . Despite the lack of action in the playing field recently a lot seems to be happening in the football administration side as names are now being tossed around to see who take over the reigns as the new Chief Executive Officer of the newly named Botswana Football League (BFL). Currently influential football administrator Raymond Tsheko is said to be in pole position to lead the BFL. Some of the names being mentioned the league secretariat include Olebile Sikwane and Harry Kota.
According to reliable sources, the committee spearheading the newly formed BFL led by Jagdish Shah has identified, Tsheko as the rightful candidate to lead the secretariat of the league that is slated to begin on the 26th of February.
Tsheko has been linked with the position since 2019 as he was deemed the possible replacement of the then Botswana Premier
League (BPL) Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Thabo Ntshinogang.
The former sportscaster and Mochudi Center Chiefs Chairperson was appointed into the BPL management committee back in 2019.
If the raging speculation proves to be true , Tsheko will be appointed as the BFL CEO before the end of the month ahead of the next football season.
Reached for comment on the matter, Tsheko said he did not apply for the post therefore there is no how he would be appointed for the position, “I never applied for the position therefore there is no how I can be appointed,” he told Sun Sport in a brief interview this week.
Further, he said there have been recent reports in the past that he would take over as the secretariat of the league although he has never showed interest in the position, “maybe I will be appointed in future because a lot of people have linked me to the post.”
Efforts to reach the Chairperson of the committee that is currently spearheading the formation of the league structure, Jagdish Shah went futile as his phone rang unanswered.
