BDF XI ENDURES TRANSFORMATION PAINS
Although it’s proving rather difficult for the army backed BDF XI to reach full transformation from an institutional cum society team to an operational business entity, the team leadership is not backing down from completing the transition.
Speaking to Sun Sport this week, club mouthpiece Phillimon Mompati said there is a lot of resistance when transformation kicks into play. “There has been a lot of court cases due to this transformation process, other teams have dropped to the lower division due to this transformation, so we are trying to approach it with a sober mind.”
He admitted transformation will not come easy for BDF XI. “We are under an institution, so for us it’s a daunting task to transform. It’s a lengthy process to have a company under an institution like BDF but our intention is to fully hatch,” he said.
Apart from transformation, preparations for active football are going well and the team is ready for resumption of the league. “The only disturbing thing is the pandemic, we might start and two weeks down the line we stop because of Covid-19 cases which will also affect the fitness of our players.”
Consequently, he stressed that when things finally return to normal, local teams are going to struggle “It’s not going to be easy for our spectators to go to the stadiums after the pandemic, they are now used to watching the English Premier League and South Africa Football.” Matebele have officially completed registration of KagisoMatlou, a goalkeeper from Mochudi Rovers, Olebogeng Ranko, a winger from Prisons XI, Thabo Kgopa from Holly Ghost, Thabo Methahothe from Molepolole City and Obakeng Mabechwana from Matebejana FC. They released from their books Remington Masuku, Mutawakil Abubak, Tumiso Mashakola and Arnold Bonang.Mompati says with this squad their ambition will be to win everything that is on offer if and when football resumes.
