Flexybouy Hardgee’s new song, dubbed Unconditional love was released this on Valentine’s Day this past Sunday. The song encourages everyone to cherish love and appreciate each other unconditionally, especially couples. “Unconditional love talks about love and how people should treat each other while in a love relationship. When I wrote the song, I want to singularly motivate couples to love each other unconditionally, looking at the rates of Gender Based Violence (GBV) in our country,” he said. Flexybouy Hardgee emphasised that the song is meant to spread love and keep homes warm. To him, the escalating cases of GBV and passion killings, are caused by misunderstandings and failure to love unconditionally, so he hopes the message of the song will help reduce this unbearable situation.

The song is categorised as Sghubu genre, a fusion of Afro Pop and Motswako. Flexybouy Hardgee told Vibe that he chose this genre as a result of the type of music he listened to when he was growing up. Music has always been part of him as a young boy and he explains that just after completing his studies at high school in 2017, he immediately joined the music industry. “I grew up as a big fan of Astley Gops and the South African Motswako rapper ‘Notshi’. This is what inspired me to come to a decision of combining Afro pop and Motswako,” he said. He is of the view that these two musicians’ composition always had that spark to it as well as some form of messages to enlighten people about life in general.

The Mmutlane born and bred artist says that for the past four years into the industry, he has learnt a lot and wishes to grow up the ladder as an upcoming artist.

He urged local artistes to come together and collaborate to help each other nurture their talent. “I have observed that local artistes don’t work together and we love competition, which is unnecessary for our growth. “My advice to the artistes is that since we have been hit hard by Covid-19, we should collaborate and lift each other as well as do side hustles, to survive” he said.

He is hopeful that his song Uconditional love will serve its purpose on Valentine’s Day and beyond that. He plans on shooting its video too, before end of the year.
