Dikokola pens Setswana writing guide

- BY LAME CHABA

Neo Dikokola has written book titled “Botsipa jwa go araba Setswana sa JCE/BGCSE” that deals with content and answering skill. Dikokola recently told Vibe that it is a book that polish learners in their approach to questions and as a Setswana literature specialist and a long-serving teacher, she felt there is a need for her to pen down the knowledge to assist teachers in equipping learners with analytic skills with creativity in simplifying content of JC/Bgcse and igcse syllabus.

Dikokola said she was motivated to write this book having noticed that there is unavailability of sources for BGCSE and this can be considerend to be a reference and manual to students.“Setswana as a subject is perceived to be a challenging subject hence I wrote this book to simplify it to take learners step by step on how to approach literature questions and essay writing.I observed that the teachers work hard in teaching learners content but when it comes to the learners to now “dish the food”answer questions, they do not and i noticed that they do not take time to plan their answers and they answer questions without understaning their demands. In brief they do not apply content that they have to answer questions,” she said.

Dikokola said the message of this book to learners is that it is a step by step guide to answering Setswana and it will simplify teaching learning process for teachers as it simplifies Setswana syllabus content and it will help in changing learners attitude towards Setswana from negative to good.

The book has eight (8) chapters which include poetry, polelo(Composition),pego(r eport),literatu re and others. Dikokola said the book will be launched in Gaborone tomorrow (24th June) and copies will be available after the launch.
