BNSC RELEASES RANKINGS FOR NATIONAL ASSOCIATIONS
The Botswana National Sport Commission (BNSC) this week released the National Sports Association (NSA) rankings and several associations, including Botswana Athletics Association (BAA), Botswana Boxing Association (BoBA), Botswana Football Association (BFA), Botswana Netball Association (BONA) and the Botswana Softball Association(BSA) are ranked at the Top in the National Sports Associations Rankings.
The associations ranked in the top bracket are believed to be the High Impact National Sports Associations on the NSA Rankings released by the Botswana National Sports Commission recently.
Moreover, the criterion used to rank the association was made with several objectives considered, among them, the contribution of the sport in the society, improvement of athletes performance, increase in high profile events hosting, national pride, social impact and administration among others.
The high impact associations were scored at least 75 percent and above, high middle impact associations were scored between 74 and 65 percent, middle impact ranged from 54 to 40 percent while low impact associations were scored below 40 percent.
Six associations made it into the high impact bracket, 17 in the middle high impact, 14 in the middle impact and four in the low impact. The Botswana Cheerleading Federation (BCF) was only ranked as a new association while the Botswana Billards Association(BBA), Horse Society of Botswana (HSB) and the Korfball Association of Botswana (KAB) were listed as the suspended associations.
The Botswana Badminton Association(BBA), Botswana Basketball Association (BBA), Botswana Chess Federation (BCF) and the Botswana Cricket Association (BCA) are among the top ranked associations in the middle high impact category. `
The middle impact comprises of the Botswana Amateur Judo Association (BAJA), Botswana Bridge Federation (BBF), Botswana Bowling Association(BBA), Botswana Hockey Association(BHA), Botswana Golf Union(BGU) and the Botswana Weightlifting Association (BWA).
It is believed that the Commission will use the categorization for the purpose of funding in the 2021-22 Financial Year, the available funds for direct allocation to NSAs will see the High Impact benefit 56 percent of the budget, Middle High Impact 32 percent, Middle Impact 10 percent, low Impact 2 percent.
