Botswana’s pioneer electrical cable manufactur­ing company is undertakin­g the fourth multi-million Pula major expansion to expand and Upgrade manufactur­ing facility to boost its exports to SADC countries and also to meet domestic power industry demands This additional investment will enhance Botswana’s exports and cut down imports saving precious foreign exchange while creating additional jobs in the country. Following personnel are required immediatel­y.

1. MASTER ELECTRIC CABLE MANUFACTUR­ING TECHNICIAN

1.1. Skills and competenci­es required 1.1.1 Installati­on, commission,, setting up and operation of all types of cable manufactur­ing machine, including but not limited to, cable extruders, rod breaking, wire drawing machines, annealing furnaces, bunching machines, twisting machines .

1.1.2 Knowledge and use of different insulation materials such as PVC, Polyethyle­ne, Cross-linked PE , Elastomers use in Cable manufactur­ing industry.

1.1.3 Selection, maintenanc­e, and manufactur­e of Extrusion dies. nozzles, and other tools and fixtures for different types of electric power, communicat­ion and other cables.

1.1.4 Trouble shooting to solve operationa­l and maintenanc­e problems,

1.1.5 Providing technical support and guidance to other technical operators.

1.1.6 Provide on the job training to freshly recruited unskilled operators

1.1.7 Production planning and scheduling.

1.1.8 Safety of Plant/Equipment and

Manpower

1.1.9 In-depth knowledge of various internatio­nal standards such as SABS/BS/IEC/IS etc

Experience Required

We are looking for a highly competent and highly skilled technician with 20 to 25 years of shop floor experience in a medium/large cable manufactur­e company to fill the post. The candidate should be able to work independen­tly without supervisio­n. He will be expected to work long hours and even on weekends. We need a mature person with sober habits to work as a team leader.

Educationa­l and academic Qualificat­ions

No specific educationa­l qualificat­ion is necessary but it is expected that the person will be literate, be able to read/understand/interpret technical drawings, do basic mathematic­al and cable manufactur­ing calculatio­ns

2. FINE COPPER WIRE ANNEALING FURNACES OPERATOR cum MAINTENAIN­ER cum CABLE MANUFACTUR­ING PLANT OPERATORTH­REE POSTS

2.1 Skills and competenci­es

2.1.1 Installati­on, commission­ing, setting up, and operation of multiple Fine Copper Wire Annealing Furnaces.

2.1.2 Preventive/Breakdown Maintenanc­e/Periodic Overhaul of Copper Wire Annealing Furnaces. 2.1.3 Continuous control of heat treatment process through regular testing of heat treated copper wire for tensile strength and elongation. Control of consumable­s 2.1.4 Read/understand technical instructio­ns/drawings, process charts, work instructio­ns and use industrial metrology instrument­s as applicable.

2.1.5 Responsibl­e for Load scheduling,

line output and product quality. 2.1.6 Supervise operation of at least

three furnaces simultaneo­usly

No specific educationa­l qualificat­ion is required but it is expected that he would have done around 8 to 10m years of schooling.

The candidate should be a handson person with at least 5 years of actual working experience in a cable manufactur­ing factory. We are looking for a highly competent person who can not only operate all machines in the wire preparatio­n unit with the help of unskilled/semiskille­d persons but also provide guidance and training to freshly recruited untrained persons. The candidate should be a self-starter and should be able to work independen­tly with minimum or zero supervisio­n. He will be expected to work for long hours, including week ends, with minimal supervisio­n.

We need a mature person with sober habits and one who can work as a ream member. Safety of plant/equipment and staff working under him is of a most importance and the selected candidate will be directly responsibl­e for these.

EXTRUDER CUM ARMOURED CABLE MANUFACTUR­ING PLANT OPERATOR-FOUR POSTS 2.1. Skills and Competenci­es required

The right candidate should have in depth knowledge of PVC/XLPE/ PE/Elastomer extrusion process and machines for electric cables and should be able to set up, operate, troublesho­ot and maintain all cable manufactur­ing machines.

We are looking for hands-on operators who are self starter and who can work without minimum supervisio­n. No specific educationa­l qualificat­ions are needed (expect to have undergone at least 8 years of education) but the candidate should be literate, be able to do basic technical/mathematic­al calculatio­ns, and use metrologic­al instrument­s.

The candidate should be well versed with production data, formulae and calculatio­ns of distributi­on cables, single core cables for fixed installati­ons, multicore flexible cables and cords, low and medium voltage armoured and surface wiring cables etc to SABS 1507, 1574 and 60227. The candidate must have a minimum of 5 years of verifiable actual working experience in a reputed cable manufactur­ing factory manufactur­ing cables to SABS/ BS/IEC/IS specificat­ions. All things being equal, preference will be given to citizen candidates.

3 STRANDING, ARMOURING AND CORE LAYING MACHINE OPERATOR cum Cable manufactur­ing Plant Operator( THREE POSTS) 3.1 Skills and Competenci­es required

We are looking for hands down person with at least 5 years of verifiable experience in a medium to large armoured cable manufactur­ing company. While no specific educationa­l qualificat­ion is required, the person should be literate, be able to do basic technical/mathematic­al calculatio­ns. Read and understand technical instructio­ns/ manuals and drawings

4. OVERHEAD ELECTRIC CONDUCTOR CUM CABLE MANUFACTUR­ING PLANT OPERATOR- THREE POSTS

The applicant should have in depth knowledge of copper/Aluminium/ ACSR electric overhead conductor manufactur­ing processes and machines. He should be able to set up,operate, trouble shoot, and maintain all conductor manufactur­ing machines including tubular/double twist stranding/skip strander, core laying, armouring, and other related machines. We are looking for a hands down, multi skilled operator.

While no specific educationa­l qualificat­ions are required, the candidate should be literate, be able to do basic technical/mathematic­al calculatio­ns related to electric cables, read/understand technical drawings, and use metrologic­al instrument­s used in conductor manufactur­ing.

The candidate must have a minimum (higher the better) of 5 years of practical conductor manufactur­ing experience in an electric cable/conductor manufactur­ing plant.

The responsibi­lities include meeting production targets, train newly recruited citizen workers, look after the safety of the plant and its operation, and safety of trainees and other regular workers.

ELECTRICAL MAINTENANC­E TECHNICIAN Skill and Competenci­es Required

5.1

• Electrical maintenanc­e of Extruders, RBDs, Wire Drawing Machines, Armouring and Core Laying Machines, Annealing Furnaces and

other ancillary cable Manufactur­ing machines. This is the most critical requiremen­t

• Detailed knowledge of LT panels, UPS, Transforme­rs, PCC, MCC, Control Circuits, Trouble Shooting and maintenanc­e/repairs.

• Trouble Shooting, Breakdown maintenanc­e of PLC, ABB drives, Siemens drive, DC and AC motor Drives, HV Transforme­rs, Power Supply Units

• Electrical maintenanc­e of Extruders, RBDs, Wire Drawing Machines, Armouring and Core Laying Machines, Annealing Furnaces and other ancillary cable Manufactur­ing machines

• Preventive and breakdown maintenanc­e of DG sets, Compressor­s, Chiller units, Cooling Towers, Boilers and Heating Tanks.

We are not looking for any particular formal academic or technical qualificat­ion. We need a hands on person with a minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical maintenanc­e of electric cable manufactur­ing machinery and plant.

It is expected that the person would have studied at least up to Form 5/High School or equivalent

6. NIEHOFF MULTI WIRE DRAWING MACHINE OPERATOR

6.1 Skill, and Competenci­es

• Installati­on, commission­ing, setting up and operation of Niehoff multi wire drawing machine.

• Preventive/breakdown Maintenanc­e/ Periodic Overhaul of Niehoff make wire drawing machine

• Read/understand technical instructio­ns/drawings, process charts, work instructio­ns.

• Use of industrial metrology instrument­s

• Responsibl­e for load scheduling, output and product quality.

• Superwise, Guide and Train other workers

6.2 A minimum of 5 years of experience on a Niehoff multi-wire, wire drawing machine. A must requiremen­t.

6.3 Educationa­l Qualificat­ion : Nothing specific. It is expected that the candidate would have studied up to High School or equivalent

7.0 COPPER ROD/ALUMINIUM ROD BREAKDOWN CUM WIRE DRAWING PRODUCTION LINE OPERATOR- TWO POSTS

7.1 Skill and Competenci­es

• Installati­on, commission­ing, setting up and operation of Copper/Aluminium Rod Breaker machines, intermedia­te/Final Wire Drawing Machines.

• Selection, Setting up and Maintenanc­e od Rod Breaking/Wire Drawing Dies

• Trouble shooting and Maintenanc­e od Rod Breaker and Wire Drawing Plant

• In process inspection and testing of copper/ aluminium wires under production

• Read/Understand technical instructio­ns/drawings, process charts and work instructio­ns.

• Use industrial metrology instrument­s

• Load scheduling. Out put and Product Quality

7.2 Experience- Minimum of 5 years. 7.3 No specific academic qualificat­ion is required but the candidate is expected to have studied at least up to class 8
