Scud Missile Promotion is expecting to host the second edition of the Undefeated Boxing Championships in October; this follows the postponement of the event which was supposed to be held in August. The event was suspended indefinitely due do the rising cases of COVID-19.

“We are planning to host the event in October but as you know COVID-19 has been the biggest problem, it will depend on the situation of the virus but if government gives us the green light, it will be hosted on October 29th this year,” Event Organizer, Thuso Khubamang said in a telephone interview this week.

He further submitted that COVID-19 has affected them. “We had planned ahead of time, we made several payments, the sanctioning of the belt was paid for, all officials of WBF were paid as well as match makers.”

Although Khubamang says they have lost money, some of the payments will still help them going forward. “We have paid for the transportation of athletes from different Southern African Countries and that will still stand, I believe by October all those who were paid will do their duties.”

The main event will pit together World Boxing Federation (WBF) Super bantamweight Champion, Onkarabile Mothibedi against Moabi Ngaka in a mouth-watering bout. The boxers are said to have broken camp and will be back to full training by mid September latest.

Some of the supporting bouts will feature the Bagwasi Brothers, Kagiso and Kabelo, who will both take on South African rivals on the night.

The event will for the first time include female boxers from South Africa. In another bout, Smangele Hadebe will take on Themba Zuma.

Khubamang further emphasised the importance of inclusion in the event, noting that he would love to see further participation of women in the sport. “We don’t have professional women boxers locally but this event should encourage females to take up the sport and be fully active.

Scud Missile Promotion has already promised a mouth-watering bout between the two boxers as well as an action packed event, with all the supporting bouts expected to display thrilling action.
