Lekoape pens The Tails in Tlokweng

- BY LAME CHABA

Chelsea Lekoape published a new book titled ‘The Tails in Tlokweng,’ a short story about a young girl who thought she needed more than what she already had, and she did get it, but not in ways she ever imagined. She had the perfect life, perfect school, perfect grades but what she did not know and appreciate was that she had an amazing family.

Lekoape told Vibe that the book continues to entail that the young girl took one stretch of rebellion and going back to her roots to find out that family is the most important thing ever and without it one cannot go very far. It talks about the union, the love and the comfort that one gets from family and the community they are a part of.

“The beginning of the story takes us back to when the main character Naledi saw and felt her life shatter right in front of her eyes and she knew deep in within that she would never be the same again but what she did not know was that, the people around her where practically the greatest beings to have ever been created. We see her walk through a journey of lessons, a journey of self-discovery, a journey of change, trying her best to live up to either the image she had made for herself or the person she could be,” she said.

According to Lekoape, the message of the book to the readers is that they should appreciate the little that they have, the people around them, the love they give to them and the time and care.

‘It takes one bad break to fall apart and one will need them the most to get through whatever it is happened to them because not everything is

easy to get over but with family they got this,” she said.

She added that the book gives the readers light that sometimes they do not see the love from their parents because they think and feel they are always too busy to tend to them but that is not always the case, they are really doing their best at keeping both their lives, family and work intact. The virtual book launch will be on the 20th September.
