FLAMINGOES

-

The team had previously engaged the expertise of another veteran mentor, Major David Bright, who succumbed to COVID-19 complications earlier this year.

According to Thebe, challenging for honors is not their immediate objective, but finishing within the Top 8 bracket will be considered to be a successful season.

“We want to finish in a respectable position, we want the top 8, anything above that will be very much welcomed; we want to establish ourselves in the league. We are ready to compete, we have prepared and assembled a squad to compete and even if the league was to start this weekend, we will be ready. Our players are yearning to kick the ball and some of them will be making their debut in the top flight football; they are fully charged to compete,” he highlighted.

The Sua Flamengos’ Chairman also stated that their transformation agenda is also underway. Local clubs have been encouraged to transform from being society clubs to be administered as business entities to allow for developments.

This transformation was led by the BFA through ‘Operation Time for Change’, a project which was facilitated by a FIFA accredited administrator Ashford Mamelodi of Mamelodi Consultant. All premier league and First Division teams were prepped on the importance of transforming.

The team recently launched their website and membership drive which the chairman described as an important step for their growth. The club gained promotion into the elite league last season, and the upcoming campaign will be their first experience of top flight football in their 30 years of existence.
