BFA needs more teachers

-

the short term we engaged BNSC to request on our behalf, the services of teachers from the Ministry of Basic Education but we are also aware that they (teachers) are busy with their programmes as school exams are on the horizon; we are working on both the short-term and long-term solutions,“Taylor highlighted.

She further emphasized the need for all parties concerned to find a solution to the matter.

“It is quiet important because if you look at it, our grassroots products mainly come from the Ministry of Basic Education, so for us it is imperative that we should have a relationship with the Ministry so that we are well informed on how we can best utilize the services of the teachers, who are normally very close to the kids that we are targeting in terms of development,” She stated.

At least, close to 10 teachers serve in the national teams of the BFA and the association has already felt the pinch of the absence of these mentors at the 2021 COSAFA women championships.

The senior women national team coach, Gaoletlhoo Nkutlwisang missed out on the tournament held in South Africa due to a positive test while her assistant, Basimanebotlhe Malete is currently on duty at the Ministry and his services could not be acquired.

The BFA ended up settling for Township Rollers goalkeeper coach, Thabo Motang, to lead the team, and although the team started well, they could not advance beyond the group stages of the tournament.

The BFA is also working closely with the world football governing body, FIFA, to ensure that relationship between government Ministries and local football governors brings forth the best outcome in football development.

It is reported that a memorandum of understanding between FIFA, BFA and MoBE is in the pipeline and will soon be signed to allow for smooth working relations and football development.
