CREATIVE SWEET DELIGHTS BY DESSERTS BY ONE

The desserts and truffles offered by Desserts by One are yummy and visually appealing, and give sweet treats a creative twist.

The sole owner of Desserts by One is One Kgabung of Lentsweletau, who plies her trade in Gaborone, making and serving desserts for different special occasions such as birthday parties, baby showers, graduations and weddings. She also caters for anyone who is just craving a sweet treat.

Kgabung said she established the desserts business after realising that many people enjoy desserts and truffles but cannot make them. “I noticed that for example at weddings, most people get sad when they miss out on dessert, so I thought, why don’t I make to appease people’s desire for occasional sweet treats.”

Kgabung makes chocolate and vanilla desserts in different variants. She said her desserts are decently priced between 20 and 60 bucks per serving,depending on what she puts in each offering.

Kgabung’s work has earned her some customers but she decried that her biggest challenge is transport as she doesn’t have a car yet.

“I work from home and deliver myself, but it’s challenging because I use public transport, which is also straining. Sometimes I have one client who wants 5 desserts in Block 10, and another who wants 6 in Block 5, another five in Phase 2 and so forth, so it becomes challenging as I have to deliver the desserts when they are still cold.”

Kgabung said her long-term dream is to establish a restaurant or a dessert shop.“I would like to own a store like Milky Lane, where I serve a wide variety of desserts,and employ youth like myself.”
