PROPHET OF DOOM?

Man of God prophesises Masisi challenges, political crisis in Botswana

-

It is often said that the “enemy” is always closer than we think, that some of the people we think are allies are actually wolves in sheep’s clothing. This might be the case with President Mokgweetsi Masisi, if a recent prophecy by Pastor Yamekela Joseph of Liberation Centre (Spirit Freedom Ministries International) a few days ago, is anything to go by.

The pastor in his prophecy, said he foresees political crisis and anarchy in Botswana, claiming that some people within Cabinet are actually against the President, and have been working against Masisi, while the President is close to them and thinks that they wish him well.

“Some of the people close to the President are working against him, and some very close to him… but they are secretly working for other people,” he said in part.

The pastor, who is based in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, implored President Mokgweetsi Masisi to stand firm in prayer and seek protection from God because “his life might just be in danger.” In a prophecy posted on the church’s You Tube channel a few days ago, Pastor Joseph says that there is a chance of the President being rushed to hospital. He also claims that Masisi has to be careful as there are certain individuals in Cabinet who are working with his detractors, and don’t necessarily have the interests of Batswana at heart.

“I see the President of Botswana being rushed to a facility that looks like a hospital… Let us pray for Botswana because I see a political crisis looming in that country”, he said.

This is not the first time that a pastor has come with a chilling revelation insinuating that Masisi’ detractors are fighting tooth and nail to bring him down.

He has faced several challenges of

being “unwanted,” and sources close to his political party, Botswana Democratic Party (BDP), say the growing confidence by the opposition to stage a motion of no confidence against him in the next Parliament stems from assurances by some ministers and ruling party Members of Parliament would back Dumelang Saleshando, who is set to lead the motion.

Concerns have been raised too, about cabinet meeting decisions and deliberations led by the president being leaked to some opposition operatives to share on social media. This too has been seen with sensitive and sometimes classified information relating to the Directorate of Intelligence and Security Services (DIS) being leaked in similar fashion, proving that there could be people close to the president and his trusted structures who could be working against him.

Insiders have indicated that even during his time as Vice President, President Masisi faced rejection from certain quarters, and just four months before he was confirmed President in 2017, he allegedly suffered food poisoning, resulting in him falling gravely ill and being rushed

to Milpark Hospital in Johannesburg, South Africa. Insiders indicated that upon his return, Masisi is alleged to have told caucus and party structures during meetings that he was aware that some people had tried to kill him through the food poisoning.

He is alleged to have said “Ba a nteka mme ga ba kake ba nkgona.” (They are trying to get rid of me but they won’t manage).

According to sources, since that incident, the President does not “eat everywhere” for fear that he will be poisoned again and is always looking over his shoulder just in case his enemies filter through and get to him.

In fact, apparently this is one of the reasons the President’s security was tightened in recent months - which includes a fleet of armoured vehicles - on the backdrop of claims that his life was in danger.

Two years ago, the President’s security detail was increased and his security placed on high alert and beefed up after Masisi’s intelligence apparently picked up that the President’s life was in danger and that there were growing direct threats to his life.
