TOO MUCH CORRUPTION AT THE BPL REFEREES OFFICE

-

Well, that is according to one Daniel Chicco-Dance Nare, the coach of Morupule Wanderers who was fuming this past weekend in a post-match interview after his team lost 2-3 to Notwane in a premiership match. He singled out and accused referee Mositwane of targeting him or perhaps the teams he coaches. The coach says he is shocked that all the time this same referee is assigned to officiate at the games involving the teams he coaches, and enumerated with examples, the incidences where the same referee deliberately ensured he lost the games he played. A re Mositwane o mo latetse ko Orapa, and gave a poor performance; again at VTM against Security Systems, gave a dubious penalty; again against Gunners, ensured he lost; and then against Notwane. Nare wants to know why Mositwane is always made to officiate only at his games. Heee…. Chicco was an angry man and even threatened to abandon the television interview if Gaotsenwe Ngwako, the Botswana Television sports presenter, did not allow him to speak his mind about the poor officiating in the match. He even asked the television man to pass his message to the referees manager, Jonty Rasetshoga, that he was worried about the corruption at the referees’ office. What followed after that interview was a barrage of attacks and counter-attacks on the matter, with some accusing Chicco of being unprofessional, while others praised the coach for being a straight talker who only wants things to be done correctly. Magatwe a re poor decisions are sponsored to favour some teams yet no referee has been punished for poor performance. The referees manager himself has since confirmed that no referee has been punished for poor performance although some have been suspended in the past, but for other reasons.
