BCP HAS BEEN PREPARING TO EXIT THE UDC – CLAIMS

-

Those who claim to know better in the political circles say what is currently happening between the BNF and the BCP inside the UDC has been long coming. Gatwe tota signs have always been there that the BCP will bolt out although for fear of losing public sympathy, they will always deny they want out of the umbrella.

Many cite the recent membership drive by the party where they claim the party has been looking to gauge their popularity with the masses and to promote their brand more, ahead of that of the umbrella, just so they prepare the minds out there, that kana tota party ke Kgololo.

It is not the first time the two parties have fought over control of things and even in the past when things had gone volatile, the BCP denied they wanted to leave.

They have stayed on but it has again been clear that they are not happy about being bullied into submission by Big Brother BNF.

The latest saga seems to have been the last straw and a hint of what is to come has been signaled from the University of Botswana where the BCP student body has severed ties with their BNF counterparts and have now formed a coalition with other opposition movements at the exclusion of the BNF. Although it is not too convincing a reason to say the BCP’s membership drive is meant to prepare for an exit, as the BNF, BPF and other parties have done it, the situation at the moment has reached a fok-kok stage where the BCP has decided to defy the BNF/ UDC and field their own candidate in the Bophirima Ward by-election. We await the official stance of the UDC on the matter.
