BDC participates at Dubai Expo
Botswana Development Corporation (BDC) participated in the Dubai Expo 2020 through a partnership with the Botswana Investment and Trade Centre (BITC), to stage the Botswana Trade and Investment Conference, Sectoral Round Table and Botswana National Day celebrations.
BDC was part of the Investment and Trade Conference on a panel titled: ‘Leveraging Botswana’s Financial Services Sector for Inclusive Growth’. It also participated in a roadshow which incorporated two business seminars in Abu Dhabi on the 8th and 10th of March, focusing on Agriculture and Mining and Mineral Beneficiation respectively, as well as B2B meetings with participating stakeholders and investors for business development purposes and strategic investment opportunities. The events which happened on Sunday and Monday were aimed at promoting investments, creativity, innovation, humanity and cultures, particularly for Botswana. The Investment and Trade Conference
was headlined by His Excellency, President Dr. Mokgweetsi E.K Masisi, under the theme ‘Sustained Growth through Inclusive and Innovative Investments’. BDC Managing Director, Cross Kgosidiile said BDC is honoured to be partnering with BITC in efforts to further develop the economy, and set Botswana on an upward economic growth trajectory. “COVID-19 has had devastating effects on the world’s economies, and Botswana was not spared. We now need to all work together in reversing these effects and moving Botswana forward. It is through partnerships such as these that we will be able to succeed,” he said. Expo 2020 Dubai has been running from 1 October 2021 and will end 31 March 2022. Held under the theme: ‘Connecting Minds, Creating the Future’, the Expo recognises and celebrates the power in collaboration and partnerships towards building a better world and shaping the future for all through sustainability, mobility, and opportunity. Botswana’s participation is anchored on the multi-sectoral approach that the country drives to diversify the economy.
