complications, so what measures can prospective patients take to ensure their safety?

Again this will differ from one procedure to another but things like smoking and obesity increases the risk of complications in almost all plastic surgery procedures.

Are there more women or men coming to you?

There are more women but we seeing more and more man requesting cosmetic procedures

What should a patient expect when coming to your office for consultation for

the first time?

We take a full profile of the patient and appreciate the patient’s concerns. Identify any risk factors and modify them before the procedure. This requires that we become honest with the patient and sometimes they are disappointed with that….. for example a patient that has to lose weight before a breast reduction

Would you like to share on the progress of breast reconstruction over the past decade?

Breast reconstruction after breast cancer surgery is now a standard of care in many countries we need to catch up as a country. We need to educate both patients and health care providers in this regard.

How do you manage the obviously stressful lifestyle that comes with your job?

Living in the moment, not being hard on myself. I talk and laugh a lot with my patients.

What is coming up on the horizon in the field of cosmetic and plastic surgery? Are there any new procedures or products to watch out for?

Fat transfer/grafting is rapidly gaining momentum as an option in most plastic surgery procedures we are now moving away from using implants for buttock and breast augmentation in favour of fat fills. This is good because we are using the patients own tissues so there is less reactions and there is no cost associated with buying an implant.
