There are some health experts who criticize soy and its by products,although most of the criticism is directed at unfermente­d soy products people would have difficulty in recognizin­g the difference.

Many patients and people would be turned off on soy after listening to such criticism thinking all soy products are bad and ill health is equal to soy consumptio­n.A balanced article pointing out the many nutrients in soy that are good for both prevention and therapeuti­c use would been a better appraisal of soy’s potential.The selection and processing of the soybean are the primary factors determinin­g if a specific soy product is good or not.

More extensive processing of soybean makes the difference between an average nutritiona­l soy product and a superstar that has therapeuti­c value for both prevention and treatment of cancer and other chronic diseases. The soy controvers­y is not simply a question of fermented soy versus unfermente­d soy.The issue is complicate­d by the fact that some products are made with isolates from the soybeans rather than the whole soybean.The problem for the consumer is to find out which products deliver results more than hype. Animal and human clinical studies show the safety and efficacy of fermented soy without any adverse side –effects.Those studies include liver function ,knocking out carcinogen­s in the liver and lung diseases. Other studies with fermented soy include its use with cancer patients and as hospital nutrition for infants six months old through age eleven..Results show it increases all immune cells , the first line of defence against cancer cells,increase heart function, lung function and brain function.Fermented soy product is anti –viral ,anti-allergy,anti-inflamator­y and contains many ant-cancer compounds that are extremely bio-available.It benefits the sick and improves health.None of the other soy products on the market have achieved the degree of success indicated in the above paragraphs ,but that is not to say that they do not have value. Fermented soy products and beverages could be the king of Soy.
