...as BDF XI coach calls for psychological intervention
Following their loss in the Mascom Charity Cup semifinal, BDF XI head coach, Letang Kgengwenyane has said the team needs the intervention of a psychologist, going forward, to deal with issues of concentration.
“There is a psychological effect, my team relaxes when they are in the lead; we need to deal with the issue professionally. We need to bring in experts to help change the mindset of the players,”Kgengwenyane told reporters after the 4-3 loss in the penalty shootout.
He added that the players need to know that if they punch their opponents, they are going to react and punch back. “We relax when we have scored but I have told the players that getting a goal is not the end of the game, it’s the beginning of the battle.”
On the other hand, BDF XI player, Kagiso Matlou said the team is looking to do well in the league to at least finish in the top two or top four. “It is games like this one that encourage us to do better in the league, we will work hard in the remaining games to achieve our goals.”
Matebele return to league action on Sunday against the red hot, Gaborone United. Matebele have handed the
Money Machine their first loss this season and they will want to make a double over the log leaders in order to close the gap between the two sides.
Matebele have been without trophies for several years now and they will want to turn around things by winning a piece of silverware. However, concentration lapse is one issue that needs to be dealt with immediately.
