A Tonota taxi man might be charged with causing death by dangerous driving.

The taxi man who is currently hospitalised at Nyangabwe Hospital in Francistown is being investigated for causing the death of a seven year old boy. Tonota Police boss Oteng Nganda told The Midweek Sun this past Tuesday that the standard two pupil of Central Primary School in Palapye boarded a taxi to the bus rank with her grandmother only to die before reaching their destination. Preliminary investigations suggest that the taxi man made a Uturn without ensuring that there was no danger from oncoming vehicles. “The taxi collided with a Toyota Ipsum and both drivers were left badly injured and are currently hospitalised. One of the passengers even lost a leg,” Ngada explained. In another incident that occurred over the weekend, a 64-year-old woman also knocked down a 10-yearold boy. The boy is said to have been trying to cross the road when he got hit. He sustained severe injuries and currently in hospital. Ngada shared that they are still trying to establish what could have happened. “We also have a murder case recorded over the weekend, 32-year-old Mogomotsi Simane

appeared before court this past Tuesday for allegedly killing his girlfriend,” Ngada revealed. Simane is accused of killing his girlfriend and leaving her near an open football pitch in Manyanda ward.

According to eye witnesses, Simane and the girlfriend were seen arguing earlier during the day. “It is suspected that he hit her until she was unconscious because her face was seemingly bruised. After beating her, he left her there.” “Apparently, the girlfriend wanted out of the relationship and she paid with her life.

The suspect has been remanded in custody and will appear before court again at the end of this month.” Further, a 54-year-old man was found hanging from a tree after telling his colleague that he was drowning in debts. “We found him hanging by neck from a tree,” said Ngada.
