-

If you love yourself, chances are that you also love good food. And we all know that a home-made meal shared with loved ones is always amazing - it is not entirely about the actual meal but the process of making that meal.

It is good to be precise and follow instructions when making a meal - but the best ingredient that gives the dish that much-required oomph that makes you sing ‘talala’ and lick your lips, is love. Food prepared with love and care always goes down well. This lasagne dish has all the fresh tastes and nutrients that you would require from an easy-to-prepare meal that is filling and simple to prepare. Feel free to add more vegetables to add that much needed veggie crunch.

INGREDIENTS:

- 6–8 slices bacon, cut into small

pieces

- 3 shallots, minced

- 3 carrots, minced

- 1 lb. ground beef

- a good sprinkling of salt and

pepper

- 1 25 ounce jar DeLallo Pomodoro Fresco Tomato Basil sauce - 1/2 cup dry red wine (optional –

can replace with broth or water) - 100 grams of cream cheese - 100 grams of whole wheat or

lasagna noodles

- 150-200g of fresh mozzarella

- A spoon of fresh basil and Parmesan cheese for topping

You can make your own tomato basil sauce from scratch for great taste.

Below are the ingredients. You can add it all in a blender and mix, or use your hand with a mixer (if you have the time and strength. LOL!) *Italian Plum Tomatoes *Extra Virgin Olive Oil *Crushed Tomatoes *Onions

*Carrots

*Basil

*A pinch of salt

DIRECTIONS:

1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Fahrenheit.

2. In a large ovenproof skillet, brown the bacon until crispy. Add the shallots and carrot; saute for 5 minutes or until soft and fragrant.

3. Add the ground beef with salt and pepper and brown until no longer pink. Drain off all the excess grease.

Add the tomato sauce and wine to the meat in the skillet. Simmer for 10 minutes over medium low heat. Stir in the cream cheese until melted.

Break each of the lasagna noodles into 3 or 4 pieces. Stir them into the meat mixture so they are completely covered in sauce, and arrange them so that they are all laying flat in the pan.

Tuck a few slices of fresh mozzarella underneath and between the noodles, and place the remaining slices of fresh mozzarella on top. Bake for 25 minutes.

If you want to brown the cheese, turn the heat up to 425 for an additional 10 minutes. Let stand for 5-10 minutes and top with fresh basil and Parmesan cheese
