- BY SUN REPORTER

Following their disappointing start to the season, Sowa Town based side management has taken the decision to part with renowned coach Rahman Gumbo following a string of bad results.

The club announced through a statement that they decided to cut ties with the Zimbabwean gaffer. “Sua Flamingoes FC informs its valued supporters, stakeholders, the media and the entire football fraternity that it has amicably parted ways with its Head Coach Mr Rahman Allen Gumbo with immediate effect.” The team takes this opportunity to thank Coach Gumbo who has immensely contributed to the growth of the team, leading them to a top eight finish in our maiden season in the elite league.

We wish him well in his future endeavours.”

For the time being Mr Kopano Phakedi will be appointed as interim coach while the club looks for Gumbos replacement. Sua Flamingoes are languishing in 15th position, their worst start since they joined the elite league in 2020. The Sowa Town based side has played 6 games lost 5 times and only won once. The team lost 2-3 against newbies Eleven Angels over the weekend, a game expected to turn the club’s fortunes. Gumbo at the peak of his powers won league titles with Mochudi Center Chiefs and the Mascom Top 8 with Gaborone

United. He has been appointed as the Zimbabwean national team head coach for a number of occasions. He is not only a renowned coach in Botswana but has also made a mark in his motherland, and it is expected that several teams will be vying for his signature soon. The Team welcomes another struggling side Holy Ghost to their fortress, Sowa Town Council Stadium, over the weekend and it remains to be seen if this game will help them rise from the ashes.
