Parents learned of Wame’s death on Facebook - Family

She built her parents a house with her first salary Family urges public to desist from baseless allegations

Deceased Wame Monthe who was killed by her colleague in Mozambique a fortnight ago was a bubbly, full of life and responsible girl, according to those who were close to her.

At a tender age of 24, she had built her parents a home. Although the house is still under development, the family has a roof over their heads in Moshupa.

This is something that the Monthe family is proud of, that their child used her first salary to start building her parents a house.

“As we stand here today, I want people to know that she made us proud. Her life was cut short but she was a focused young lady,” family member Kabelo Monthe said at the burial ceremony of Wame in Moshupa this past weekend. Monthe said this amid social media suspicions that Wame was dating the married man who killed her early this month. He advised people to desist from talking about things for which they have no proof. “Our child was murdered by her colleague in Mozambique, and investigations are still ongoing. Nobody knows why she was killed, so let us respect her and let her rest.” Monthe said it was devastating for Wame’s parents to learn about the death of their daughter through social media, further expressing distraught at the abuse of Facebook by some people who are quick to share things without minding how family members will feel. “Wame’s mother is my cousin, when we went home to inform her, we found that she had already heard through Facebook that her daughter was no more. “The only thing that we can share is that we heard that she was killed where she was based and working in Mozambique. Her killer went to her, shot and killed her then shot himself too. We have no further details,” he said. Monthe described Wame as a free spirited soul and an outspoken person. She had always shown a keen interest in joining the army and Monthe, who is also a soldier, guided her in her journey.

“When she went for training, I told her to never forget where she comes from,” he said.
