Two days after hosting a successful Last Man Standing show at the National Stadium in Gaborone, Odirile Sento aka Vee Mampeezy’s hired security personnel was on Tuesday breathing heavily on his neck, demanding payment for service provided.

The angry security company owners including bouncers, owners of dogs and horses allegedly had an agreement with Vee that they will get paid on Sunday. However, on that day, Vee was nowhere to be seen, and his phones were also off.

They only managed to meet him at Grand Palm on Tuesday morning and he allegedly told them that he would speak to his show promoters to ensure they get paid.

Not convinced, service providers followed Vee to Gaborone International Finance Park (GIFP) near Game City Mall, demanding payment. Things got a bit heated with service providers losing their temper and allegedly breaking and destroying office equipment at an office where Vee had gone to ask about payments at GIFP. “Yes it’s true, the situation got violent, some office equipment got

damaged and the police were called,” one service provider who asked to be anonymous for fear of victimisation, confirmed. They said they provided service to Vee’s event from 12pm on Saturday until the next day around 1000hrs.

“The agreement was that we work until 0600hrs on Sunday but out of the goodness of our hearts, we worked until 1000hrs because there were just too many people. We did not want to abandon him. We are disappointed it has come to this.”

They told of how they worked hard to ensure that Vee’s event is a resounding success. They further allege that some criminals tried to invade the show but security was tight because of them.

Although disappointed, they believe someone might have been trying to sabotage Vee. “He has been saying he knows we play an important role and cannot ignore paying us.”

Nonetheless, when reached, Vee was fast to tell The Midweek Sun that he had limited time to speak as he was at the bank. “No, no, there is nothing like that, it’s news to me, e bile ke tshogile, I will have to ask,” Vee said when denying it all on Tuesday. Asked if he had not met anyone complaining about not being paid, Vee said no one came to him. However, when the angry security company owners were speaking to this publication, Vee was overheard telling the men not to take the issue to the media, assuring them that he would have completed all transactions by 1700hrs on Tuesday.

By press time Tuesday evening, Vee had still not paid.
