A GLANCE AT WHAT THEY HAVE BEEN SAYING ON THE POLITICAL SPACE

-

OPPOSITION PARTIES NEED EACH OTHER opposition

Nnete ke gore e ya tlhokana! Tseo tsa gore ba bangwe ga ba na batho ga re di itse! Mo polotiking you build from each other’s strengths! There’s a noun for it - STRATEGY! You might have numbers but be unable to make impact because you lack in some areas! Sir Gee had one powerful strategy: harnessing people’s strengths for the good of the project. In the 2014 UDC, there was space for everybody and each operated in the area of their expertise, gifting and experience! Members were tributaries to the UDC RIVER. Dilo tsa bo, “you think you have monopoly of intelligence” ke gone re di utlwang! As you sleep, think about that! But remember to respect the will of your members and the nation! Nna ke ya 2024 ke le motlhophi kana ke ile BDP. Opposition ke e leketse tota! 13 years! [MMAOTHO SEGOTSO]

JUST LEAVE RELIGION OUT OF POLITICS

Politicians routinely desecrate religion or religion is already desecrated itself. It has proven totally pointless to take oath of office especially laying one’s hand on the holy book of one’s religion. This is because immediately they get into office they do the opposite, are dishonest, dissembling and deceptive, contrary to the very oath taken. Religion thereafter never ever, koore NEVER ever reminds politicians of those oaths and use of their statutes to be true to them. Totally mum. I suggest that if anything, let politicians simply sign whatever contract and KPIs they claim would commit to pursuing (which generally never happens) and leave religion out of their vocation completely. Unless you out there may insist politicians including President, and his compatriots have been true to his oath of office. In which case I’d challenge you to substantiate your claims. WE NEED SERIOUSNESS IN POLITICS

Dear Boko Duma and Ndaba Gaolathe: The whole country is looking at you two. It is not only about those who wish you unity to take power from BDP. It is the whole nation including BDP. People are longing for quality politics. They want to see strong engagements between BDP and the opposition. For BDP to invest in quality and capable politicians it is when they know and see that there is a serious alternative. For us the poor, we are looking up to you to challenge the current regime so that we are recognised and taken seriously. If the current regime can’t respect us and be accountable, then we will have your united force as an alternative. Really we are tired of social clubs and cults masquerading as political parties and wasting our time each election year. Yes some of the religious followers will hate and even insult you for this. But that’s how it has to be like. Leaders need to take decisions. Some unpopular among their circle of friends. Regards. [MBAAKANYI LENYATSO]

KHAMA’S POLITICS OF HATE ARE TOXIC

Ian Khama’s politics of hate are toxic for our country. Khama is so full of bitterness and hatred towards the current president that he has even invested too much time and resources in painting our country in bad light internationally. He is busy using his Mmamosadinyana connections to influence international organisations to speak ill of Botswana, and then blame it on Masisi. In the meantime, it is our country that suffers damage, especially over none existent issues that Khama is trying to impose on the minds of Western countries. Khama surely doesn’t know politics. He is not good at the game. He is just a soldier relying on tactics of war, and his tactics are to damage the reputation of the country to make it look like without him, Botswana has gone to the dogs, and that international organisations should help spread the word in any form, that Botswana has become worse. He is busy sharing reports from his friends Cherrie Blair and company and presented to the UN as gospel truth about Botswana. So pathetic of him. [TUMISANG MOLEFHE]
