Extension Gunners Interim Committee led by Bonno Ngwamotsoko is hard at work preparing to put the team’s house in order by holding an elective Annual General Meeting (AGM) before the beginning of the 2023/2024 first division league.

The interim committee took over the reigns of the team following the resignation of club chairman Rapula Okaile and Secretary General Edwin Mabapa last month.

According to the constitution, the Vice Chairman Ngwamotsoko was then elevated to Chairman position, Mr. Ngaka Mosimanegape was appointed Vice Chairman while Gerald Mahumba and Mr Tshephang Orekeng were co-opted as Secretary General and Vice Secretary General respectively.

The current Secretary General of Extension Gunners, Gerald Mahumba told this publication over the weekend that at the moment they are working under pressure to set the date for the club’s upcoming elective AGM and at the same time, their focus is to finish all their remaining 3 league games on a high note.

“Currently we are preparing all the necessary logistics to convene an elective AGM which will lead to the election of substantive committee, we were given the mandate to prepare for the elective meeting as soon as possible. We took over last month, and the good thing about those in charge right now is that they are able to engage and decide as a collective to ensure the smooth running of the club,” Mahumba said.

He said that their plan now is to prepare for the first Division with the possibility of coming back to the elite league as soon as possible provided the team is led by men and women who can transform the operations of the club for better results.

“We are known as a club with dysfunctional management which is not a good record, this time around we want to do things better and restructure the club so that it can be more marketable, sellable, more organised, and more of a professional team,” he noted.

Mahumba said Gunners as a club is a brand that is not well organized, saying that they would need to structure it in the manner that it will benefit the club, Including professionalizing it and making it more appealing, entertaining and attractive.

“We are engaging stakeholders within the town to assist us accordingly, Lobatse Town Council and other prominent individuals in town to assist us during our stay at first division, even the technical team, we are hoping that they will work around their plan and communicate with us in due course on how they intend to do their best and have Gunners back in the league,” he said.

He further said they only need a hard-working management who are prepared to transform the club into a better organisation.

“We ended up relegating because of how things were done in the team, we failed to do basic things properly, winning is not an on and off button set up, it’s a process, you need to work on the ingredients properly; this is why we want to work on having a better management,” Mahumba said.
