Nkokowe Live Recording, a Jazz album by Moroka Moreri is anticipate­d to take place on May the 27th at Maitisong Theatre.

Moreri, who is affectiona­tely known for his rich lyrical content when it comes to poetry, told Vibe that the purpose of the event is to showcase Botswana jazz and share it with the rest of the world.

“The event will also be used to raise funds to assist one of the jazz legends who has worked with the jazz giant, Jonas Gwangwa,” he shared. He further explained that the event is part of the Maitisong Festival which would be held under the theme ‘Ignite the fire of creativity,’ and features four segments.

These he said include; official opening, showcase the cream of Botswana Poetry, which will feature some of Botswana’s finest poets among others; Kaone Mahuma, Tsikitsits­iki, Serurubele, Poeticbloo­d, Kopanang Tito, Mmasekgeth­u, Bonnie Manuel who are national firebrands.

“The official opening segment is meant to discuss the importance of Live Recording and the legendary Bonjo Keipedile’s House Building project, while the showcase of Botswana poetry, promotes poetry and also looks at featuring upcoming poets including; Senamphats­hwana, Zareena Madum and Kathleen Katlo.

The third segment will feature one of the most decorated and celebrated Botswana’s Traditiona­l DanceTroup­e, Mafitlhakg­osi, while the fourth segment will feature Botswana’s gospel legendary artistes; Phempheret­lhe Pheto and Kesegofets­e Kalayamore. Jazz stars present at the event will include; Lister Boleseng,Trans Kalahari Jazz Quintet featuring Bonjo Keipedile and the Nkokowe Band.

“The event will simultaneo­usly showcase artefacts by Thapong Artists, namely; Kedirile Spense Kemaketse and Bignature Radikolana. Itumeleng Moterati will showcase his traditiona­l wooden chairs,” he shared.

One of Botswana’s young entreprene­urs, who runs Keith Rabbit Empire, Tshwarelo Senthufe will give theVIPs a taste of his rabbit dishes.

This is the second event of this nature, following the first one where Nkokowe Album was launched at Westwood Internatio­nal School.“The only difference is that this is a charity event and we hope it attracts more audience,” he said, adding that the line up is also bringing unique cultural flavour and showcasing a variety of Botswana talents.

Attendants are encouraged to wear African attire and Directors of ceremonies would be the renowned radio voices, Thebeyame Ramoroka and Lesego Kgajwane.
