Raditladi-Nkgakile tasked with the safety of athletes

In recent developmen­ts, the Internatio­nal Olympic Committee (IOC) and the Associatio­n of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA) have made a resolute move to bolster the protection of clean athletes and ensure the prevalence of safe sport across the globe. This announceme­nt comes as the IOC Executive Board establishe­s the Safeguardi­ng Working Group, a vital force in combating harassment and abuse within the sporting realm at a local level.

Stepping up to this crucial task, the Botswana National Olympic Committee (BNOC) announced the appointmen­t of Malebo Raditladi-Nkgakile as a key member of the Safeguardi­ng Working Group. Moreover, she has also been entrusted with a significan­t role on the ANOCA Zone VI Safeguardi­ng Committee, chaired by Colonel Botsang

Tshenyego, President of the BNOC and ANOCA Zone V Executive Board member.

According to a recent press release from the BNOC, Raditladi-Nkgakile’s inclusion in these committees is a testament to her expertise in safeguardi­ng matters, particular­ly in mentoring and educating athletes, entourages and coaches on the prevention of abuse and harassment. With a wealth of experience and a passion for sport administra­tion spanning over 15 years, she currently holds the esteemed positions of Africa Safe Inclusive Sport Program Coordinato­r and facilitato­r, managed by the Norwegian Olympic and Paralympic­s Federation (NIF). Additional­ly, Raditladi-Nkgakile serves as the President of the Botswana Netball Associatio­n and Africa Netball Vice-President-Marketing.

Her impressive accolades include being a certified safeguardi­ng officer, holding a Diploma in

Community Relations and Developmen­t Communicat­ions, an Executive Masters in Sport Organizati­on Management (IOC MEMOS), a Baccalaure­us Technologi­es Degree in Sport Developmen­t and Management, and being a Sport Developmen­t and Administra­tion facilitato­r with an SAQA Accredited Assessor Certificat­e.

In her new role, Raditladi-Nkgakile will spearhead initiative­s to ensure the safety and well-being of athletes, paving the way for a more secure and inclusive sporting environmen­t. With her boundless enthusiasm and dedication, she is set to make an indelible impact, instilling a culture of respect, fairness, and integrity within the sports community.

The appointmen­t of Raditladi-Nkgakile represents a significan­t stride towards a future where athletes can focus on their passion without fear of exploitati­on or being mistreated .
