Raditladi-Nkgakile tasked with the safety of athletes
In recent developments, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA) have made a resolute move to bolster the protection of clean athletes and ensure the prevalence of safe sport across the globe. This announcement comes as the IOC Executive Board establishes the Safeguarding Working Group, a vital force in combating harassment and abuse within the sporting realm at a local level.
Stepping up to this crucial task, the Botswana National Olympic Committee (BNOC) announced the appointment of Malebo Raditladi-Nkgakile as a key member of the Safeguarding Working Group. Moreover, she has also been entrusted with a significant role on the ANOCA Zone VI Safeguarding Committee, chaired by Colonel Botsang
Tshenyego, President of the BNOC and ANOCA Zone V Executive Board member.
According to a recent press release from the BNOC, Raditladi-Nkgakile’s inclusion in these committees is a testament to her expertise in safeguarding matters, particularly in mentoring and educating athletes, entourages and coaches on the prevention of abuse and harassment. With a wealth of experience and a passion for sport administration spanning over 15 years, she currently holds the esteemed positions of Africa Safe Inclusive Sport Program Coordinator and facilitator, managed by the Norwegian Olympic and Paralympics Federation (NIF). Additionally, Raditladi-Nkgakile serves as the President of the Botswana Netball Association and Africa Netball Vice-President-Marketing.
Her impressive accolades include being a certified safeguarding officer, holding a Diploma in
Community Relations and Development Communications, an Executive Masters in Sport Organization Management (IOC MEMOS), a Baccalaureus Technologies Degree in Sport Development and Management, and being a Sport Development and Administration facilitator with an SAQA Accredited Assessor Certificate.
In her new role, Raditladi-Nkgakile will spearhead initiatives to ensure the safety and well-being of athletes, paving the way for a more secure and inclusive sporting environment. With her boundless enthusiasm and dedication, she is set to make an indelible impact, instilling a culture of respect, fairness, and integrity within the sports community.
