The film fest in Gaborone was presented by European Union Delegate in partnership with

Alliance Francaise and treated movie lovers to 10 different films throughout the past week.

This is a once in a lifetime experience for those who enjoy watching movies on that big screen. Thanks to the Euro Film fest, movie lovers had to frequent New Capitol Cinemas at Riverwalk to enjoy the movies offered by the film fest. One of the attendants, Temogo Machangane told Vibe that the EU film fest is an exceptional opportunity for watching themed content on consecutive days.

“We hardly have film festivals in Botswana, so I really applaud the EU film fest for including us and giving us something to enjoy. I had to watch all the 10 movies because I just found them to be insightful and interesting,” she said.

Director of Alliance Française Gaborone, Angélique Saverino, told Vibe that this year they included performing artists from Poetavango Maun who gave an amazing performance at the closing ceremony on Saturday. She further said that they also included short movies from Botswana to enhance the cultural exchanges aspect of the festival.

“The European film festival is about showcasing a variety of productions from European countries. This year, we screened movies from France, Belgium,

Germany, Poland, Slovakia, Cyprus, Ukraine, and the UK. This year, we also included three short movies from Botswana as we wanted to enhance the cultural exchanges aspect of the festival. We also invited performing artists from France, Duo Cziffra, to present a cine concert, in collaboration with a team of local artists involved in a series of workshops and masterclasses, as well as performing artists from Maun for the closing of the concert,” said Saverino.
