To raise funds for Mapoka Home Defenders

- IRENE SHONE

Zoom’ Tainments World will this Saturday present the ever first annual Mapoka Home Defenders Annual Fundraising Music Festival, lined up with an electrifying cohort of artistes at Corner Garden Inn.

While sporting remains the core of entertainment the world has ever had, the Mapoka Home Defenders Sporting Club agrees to the notion but adds the cherry on top by bringing in music. The football team was founded in the 1974 in Mapoka, and this has since become their home of entertainment and to groom talent as well.

General Manager at Mapoka Home Defenders Sporting Club, Wazha Zoom Monyatsi told Vibe that they saw it fit to officially establish this club. “The decision to form the club was influenced by the fact that out of school boys, would play football on an adhoc basis, and so we thought we could contain them and mould their talent,” said Monyatsi.

They would therefore host this decorated music festival with the aim to give back to their community. The festival boasts a beautiful lineup lead by the legendary Johnny

Mokhali from South Africa and most of the artistes from the Mapoka Home Defenders region. These talented artistes include; Thabang Garogwe, Abednico and The Dove, Oa-TshelaLeh Cultural troupe and NKULU.

Monyatsi told Vibe that they try by all means to promote talent from their region, hence their choice of musicians from the region on the initial festival. “We have unanimously agreed upon the need to remunerate our players and the technical team, not only as way to attract and retain them but to equally boost the morale and overall performance. The fundraising also allow us to do community work by giving back food hampers to the needy and enable our ladies supporters branch to donate sanitary pads to those they see fit,” shared Monyatsi.

The Mcs for the day would be Mc Dondie, Mc Tamabrown and Mc Muller, while a team of different DJs would also mesmerize the audience by doing what they know best. DJs of the day include; DJ Gap, DJ Sean Lacoostaq, DJ Phista, DJ Pekay and ‘The Chief Rocker’ DJ Shaboo.
